In 2022, Zurn Water Solutions merged with Elkay Manufacturing Company, an Illinois-based manufacturer of commercial and residential sinks and drinking fountains. In order to deliver on the roughly $50 million in synergies investors expected, the Zurn leadership team had to integrate the companies' portfolios with an eye toward maximizing profitability. Sudhanshu Chhabra, vice president of business systems, targeted the sinks businesses for the first wave of savings, evaluating both companies' recent transaction data to find ways to become more efficient and profitable. By analyzing granular sales and cost data for an entire year for 2,500 sink SKUs, students will identify which customers and products in the newly merged portfolio to retain, and which to consolidate and/or eliminate.
