The Future of Lifelong Learning in a Software and Services World

Abstract

Lifelong learning can leverage developments in software and services to create an adaptive and personalized learning journey for executives. I identify 5 key themes in transforming lifelong learning. In terms of content, I see a shift from monolithic courses to granular knowledge objects. In terms of personalization, I see a shift from manual personalization to automated personalization using Machine Learning. In terms of delivery, I see a shift from episodic learning to ongoing learning as a service. In terms of sourcing of content, I see a shift from captive sources in one institution to an "Uber for learning: open marketplace. And in terms of credentialling, I see a shift from paper degrees to blockchain-based micro-credentials that can be accessed on demand.
