Bob Moesta is the CEO & Founder of The Re-Wired Group, providing end-to-end innovation consulting that revolutionizes markets through the application of quality and disruption principles to product development. He specializes in solving seemingly unsolvable problems and increasing the skills of innovators to make better consumers - enabling humankind to make progress. He has launched over 3500 products services and businesses across nearly every industry, including defense, automotive, software, financial services and education, among many others. He is an adjunct Professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a guest lecturer at the Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan School of Entrepreneurship. Moesta is also a research fellow at the Christensen Institute in Boston.
Moesta, along with Harvard Business School Professor Clayton Christensen, is one of the principal architects of the Jobs To Be Done Theory the revolutionary innovation framework that identifies disruptive innovation through understanding what causes customers to make choices that help them achieve progress. He has continued to develop, advance and apply the innovation framework through the addition of quality principles to everyday business challenges evolving it into Green Line Development making innovation more predictable and successful.
Moesta’s strength lies in identifying customer jobs and breaking products down into systems highlighting their interconnectivity thereby enabling feature prioritization and efficient prototyping to learn. Among his many accomplishments are design of the interior layout of the Apache Attack Helicopter with IBM Defense, improvement of the Space Shuttle’s Main Engine and testing procedures for NASA’s TQM effort with the Marshall Space Flight Center, reduction of variability within the painting process at Ford Motor Company and restructuring and prioritization of software features at Intercom.
A lifelong learner, Moesta continually seeks out to learn from the best of the best approaching learning through experimentation and managing risk. He began his career as an intern with Dr. W. Edwards Deming and worked with Dr. Genichi Taguchi in Japan to bring quality methods and tools to the world. He holds degrees from Michigan State University (BS in Electrical Engineering) and the Harvard Business School (Exec MBA). He has studied extensively at Boston University’s School of Management (In Brussels), MIT School of Engineering (MS work in Chemical and Mechanical Engineering) and at the Stanford Design School (MS in Design).
