Getting Around  
When determining housing and getting to/from campus, you may want to consider public transportation options. There are also shuttle busses offered by the university.

Graduate School Commons
The Graduate School Commons is located at 2122 Sheridan Road, Evanston, 1st Floor. The Graduate School has space for general use by graduate students to study, hold small gatherings, etc. A valid WildCard is required for access.

U-Pass
The Graduate School and Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) provide the CTA University Pass (U-Pass) to graduate students enrolled full-time in The Graduate School.

On-Campus and Off-Campus Housing
There are various on-campus housing options for PhD students at Northwestern University after an application process. Graduate housing can accommodate students as well as their families. Students should explore the on-campus housing resources such as Engelhart Hall, McManus Living and Learning Center, and Garrett Place Apartments. International students may want to pursue temporary housing through the Foster Families and Home Stays for International Students Program. The program, offered through the Community Council for International Students, provides temporary housing for international students who are looking for permanent housing.

Office of International Student and Scholar Services
OISS helps students enter and remain in the United States and hosts a variety of international and multicultural programs throughout the year.

Women's Center
The Women's Center is located at 2000 Sheridan Road in Evanston. They provide counseling services, volunteer opportunities, and resources to increase awareness and safety amongst the whole campus community.

Northwestern University Graduate Student Association (NUGSA)
The Northwestern University Graduate Student Association strives to inform graduate students of available university resources. The GSA website provides summaries that are a good starting point for students looking for resources.

Purple Pages
The Kellogg Purple Pages are a directory for local businesses in Evanston and Chicago for those not familiar with the area. They are a great resource for students looking for restaurants, shopping, and more.

Cultural Opportunities on Campus

Northwestern's Bienen School of Music brings in world-recognized musical acts of every genre, the Block Museum of Art presents several exhibits annually in addition to its permanent art collection, and the Theatre & Interpretation Center offers theatrical, musical and dance performances by students and renowned professionals.
