Colloquium on Thought Leadership

Students in the Part-Time MBA Program progress throughout our curriculum at their own pace and complete the program in 2.5 – 5 years, at the end of any given quarter. As such, the Part-Time MBA Program has not had a real sense of “class cohesion” among the graduating group of students each spring. Colloquium on Thought Leaderships part of the graduating class programming to build a stronger sense of community among part-time students who are in their last year of classes.

Throughout the year, we will offer an academic session taught by one of Kellogg’s leading faculty members, usually on a Friday evening. These sessions are designed to be capstone in nature, promoting what a Kellogg student should take with them as they leave their academic career here.

Following each Friday night session we will host a reception on the fifth floor for all attendees.

Fall 2007

Professor Philip Kotler
SC Johnson & Son Distinguished Professor of International Marketing

Written four decades ago, the first edition of Marketing Management by Professor Kotler revolutionized the teaching of marketing. It became the most widely used text in graduate business schools around the world, having been translated into more than 25 languages.

Kotler’s big idea in 1967 was that companies ought to be driven by customers and markets, rather than by the intuition of marketing executives. He incorporated scientific and analytical thinking into the marketing field to add to the rich description of markets that already existed in the marketing literature. He based his new textbook on ideas synthesized from economics, behavioral science, organizational science and mathematical thinking.

Now, 46 books and 133 articles later, we have the honor of hosting Professor Kotler here at Wieboldt for a very special evening of Marketing Insights. We hope you and your significant other will join us for a truly exceptional learning experience.
