Colloquium
on Thought Leadership
Colloquium on Thought Leadership is part of the graduating
class programming to build a stronger sense of community
and class among part-time students who are in their
last year of classes.
Throughout
the year, we will offer an academic session taught by
one of Kellogg’s leading faculty members, usually
on a Friday evening. These sessions are designed to
be capstone in nature, promoting what a Kellogg student
should take with them as they leave their academic career
here.
Following
each Friday night session we will host a reception on
the fifth floor for all attendees.
Symposium
on Managerial Leadership
This
leadership program, offered to all Kellogg part-time
students, intends to provide interactive workshops and
seminars for you to learn more about leadership attributes
and continue to develop your own leadership qualities
while at Kellogg through exposure to faculty, business
leaders and interactive workshops.
Professional
Development Series
This
series of interactive workshops and hands on experiential
activities is designed and delivered by our Career Coaches
and other career services professionals. It provides
any part-time student, whether in the early stages of
the Kellogg experience or preparing to participate in
the on-campus CMC recruiting process, with information
on a variety of career development topics.

All
programs will meet on Fridays from 6:30 – 9:00
pm. The fee is $50/student for the entire series.

Career
Planning/Self-Assessment
As
you start your career development process, it is essential
to take the time to reflect on your goals, skills and
values. By understanding these elements, you will be
able to develop the career path you really want. This
workshop is that all-important step of business career
self-assessment. You will be introduced to CareerLeader™,
the premier on-line business career self-assessment
tool, which is used by over 100 of the top MBA schools
and is designed specifically for MBA- level careers.
You will gain knowledge that will propel you to the
next step in your career development.

Conducting
an Independent Job Search
It’s
time to act, and you need some ideas of how to go about
searching for that next great opportunity. You will
get more than ideas at this workshop, where you will
develop a step-by-step strategy and practical tactics
for your independent job search. You will learn how
to set goals and targets, gather necessary information,
prepare for interviews, engage in meaningful follow-up
and foster a professional network.

Building
a Powerful Resume
You’ve
achieved a lot in your career, so how do you tell someone
about it on one page? The “Building a Powerful
Resume” workshop will show you how to create a
concise resume that fits a particular situation. You
will gain an understanding of how to sell yourself and
your skills through your resume, as well as see how
it works in the job search process. You will learn how
to create an effective resume that will get the attention
of employers.

Promoting
You: Interview Skills
Interviewing
can be stressful but being well-prepared means you can
be successful. “Promoting You: Interview Skills”
will focus on the areas employers hope to uncover in
the interview process. You will learn what information
to convey, how to prepare for the tough interview questions
and the most effective way to organize stories to demonstrate
your strengths.

Interactive
Resume Review
Now
that you think you have your ideal resume, why not put
it to the test? Spend 20-30 minutes with one of our
Career Coaches who will provide you with practical,
honest feedback to help you fine tune your resume. You
will leave your session with a sense of what changes
you may want to make to ensure a truly powerful resume.

Networking
Want
to maximize your Kellogg experience and meet new classmates?
Kellogg’s Speed Networking event will allow you
to quickly connect with your classmates and learn about
different ways you can help each other. Whether you
are contemplating a career change, want to make key
business contacts, want to contribute back to Kellogg,
or simply want to meet new people; this event will allow
you to do so in a fun and efficient way.

Interview
Practicum
You’ve
learned all of the interviewing best practices in “Promoting
You: Interview Skills”, and this practicum will
allow you to put those skills to use. The workshop provides
a brief refresher on the interview essentials, and then
you will practice and polish those interview stories.
You will leave the workshop with key takeaways about
interviewing in general, as well as how to specifically
improve your personal interview skills.

Business
Etiquette
Sometimes
we think we know how to handle any situation, but then
the unexpected happens. How do we gracefully handle
ourselves in stressful situations? What is the proper
way to dress, greet and network in a business reception?
These questions and more will be addressed and the answers
will come from your own practice in this special session.
Taught by a business etiquette professional, this session
teaches students how to dress, act, respond, and eat
in a business setting.
