Program Guidelines and Suggestions

  1. All core courses should be completed within the first 12 courses of study. The core courses are listed on the Program Planning Guide.
  2. Management 431: Business Strategy should be completed within the first three quarters of study.
  3. Decision Sciences 433 and 434 should be completed early in the program. If you have a strong math background (i.e. engineering, mathematics or science undergraduate curriculum), Decision Sciences 436 and 437 might be more appropriate courses to take.
  4. A student is not ordinarily permitted to enroll in more than two courses per quarter, nor to complete the program in fewer than 10 quarters of study.
  5. The maximum time limit for completion of the MBA degree is five years.
  6. Students must graduate with at least one major.
  7. The faculty committee for business management strongly recommends that students who plan a career in a business organization include the following courses among their electives:
    ACCT 431 Managerial Accounting
MECN 450 Macroeconomic Analysis for Management
    MGMT 440 Human Resource Management
    MGMT 452 Strategy and Organization
SEEK 441 Strategic Management in Non-Market Environments
  8. SEEK 440A, Values, Ethics and Strategic Crisis Decision Making, is a ½ credit class and there is no tuition charge. SEEK 440A is a course that will count towards satisfying the SEEK major.

Students cannot register for SEEK 440A via the online registration system. An email with registration instructions will be sent to all part-time students a few weeks before the quarter begins. Students must have finished at least 8 courses to enroll in SEEK 440A. Special permission to add this course (if already registered for two courses) is not required.
