The One Acre Fund empowers the chronically hungry in Africa to pull themselves out of poverty. The organization pioneers a tiny investment package that will enable farm families to grow their own way out of hunger, permanently. Hunger is the number one reason that one in six African children dies before age five, and the number one reason that nearly half of the remaining children are physically stunted. The One Acre Fund take a holistic approach to health, providing food security together with basic medicines and was founded by Andrew Youn, Kellogg Class of 2006.

The Harbour’s programs provide temporary shelter and/or transitional housing and comprehensive services for homeless, locked out, and runaway youths ages 12-21. The organization’s key objective is to prevent youth from homelessness and to maintain them safely in school, employment, and the community. 1,417 days of care were provided to girls in Evanston in 2005. A donation from the Charity Auction Ball will provide food, shelter, and care for youth in addition to intake and evaluation services, an emergency hotline, and referrals for community youth.
