Forming
a new club
Kellogg
students can apply for a 10-week club provisional period at
the beginning of any quarter during your time at Kellogg.
To do this you must complete the following application.
The application must be complete in all sections and must
arrive no later than the date stipulated by the
KSA
VP of Finance and Business Development.

KSA
Board Initial Approval
The
club's initial co-chairs will be invited to present their
plans to the KSA Clubs Sub-Committee. Presentations will
last 5-10 minutes each. The KSA Clubs Sub-Committee will then have
a chance to ask questions. KSA
Sub-Committee members will each receive copies of the applications,
paid
for by the KSA. Any materials that the club applicants would
like to provide beyond that are at the expense of the co-chairs. After the presentation, the Clubs Sub-Committee
will make a recommendation to the KSA Board on
whether the club should be permitted to
undertake
a 10-week
provisional period.
The KSA Board will then vote on each club's provisional
status, and a majority approval will be required for a club
to receive initial approval.
All club
applicants
will
be
notified
of
their status within 24 hours of the KSA Board meeting at
which the Sub-Committee presents. KSA
Board members will evaluate club applicants on whether
the
proposed club would benefit the Kellogg student body as a
whole, whether it is unique and doesn't duplicate the efforts
of an existing club, and whether the club has met the application
requirements.
10-Week
Provisional Period
Each provisional
club will go through a 10-week trial period (counted when
classes are in session during the regular year), during which
the club is required to hold at least one event. This
event
must be applicable to the club's stated objectives. The club's
sponsors must inform the VP of Finance and Business
Development of the time, place, and purpose of this event
so that a KSA Board member can attend. The KSA Board member
will measure attendance, evaluate the event, and report
back
to the KSA Board. Provisional clubs will be allowed one school
wide, mass e-mail to attract interested members.
During
this time, clubs will have access to everything that a
Kellogg
club would have access to (except access to a SOFO account):
KSA funding (maximum of $150), club listserv, club
website, access to club resources, and relevant Kellogg
administration.
Final Approval
Final approval
is required at the end of the 10-week trial period by
the
KSA Board. This final approval will be based upon a vote
of the KSA Board; majority approval of the Board is required
for a club to receive “final approval” status. If a club approved for a provisional 10-week
trial period fails to hold an event during this period,
the
provisional period will expire.
Provisional clubs that hold an event during the 10-week
period and meet the KSA Club Responsibilities
will have their provisional status removed and will become
an official KSA club given approval of the KSA Board.
The KSA
reserves the right to reject the formation of a new club
if
it does not meet the above stated requirement, if it duplicates
the efforts of an existing club, or if it does not benefit
the student body as a whole.
