What is GHI?
- The Global Health Initiative (GHI) is a partnership between private industry, non-profit donors and academia to develop products that address health issues facing underserved communities around the world.
- Parnters include Kellogg, Northwestern's McCormick School of Engineering, Abbott Labs, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Inverness Medical, IDEO and others who are working to create products and programs to alleviate global health epidemics.
- GHI’s first project is to develop AIDS diagnostics suitable for use in the developing world.
How does the GIM Tanzania project relate to GHI?
- Course participants will conduct research in support of the GHI mission with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
- Research on GIM Tanzania will provide input for design, production, testing, and commercial launch of a new biotech device.
- Students will meet various stakeholders to determine the best market entry strategy in an emerging market.
