As a community, KABA members strive to be socially responsible students and are actively involved in a variety of organizations.
One Acre Fund One Acre Fund is an award-winning non-profit organization started in January 2006 by Kellogg alum '05 Andrew Youn and is making a powerful impact by completely re-thinking how to solve the chronic hunger problem in Africa. OAF doesn't give food away because they believe that handing out food will never solve hunger for more than one meal. Rather, they are pioneering a tiny investment package that will enable farm families to grow their own way out of hunger, permanently. Learn how you can help impact this non-profit with a simple $20 donation. (http://www.oneacrefund.org/)
Sickle Cell
Sickle-cell disease is a chronic an lifelong genetic disorder and occurs when an abnormal form of hemoglobin (HbS) is produced. Unlike normal red blood cells that last about 4 months in the bloodstream, fragile sickle cells break down after only about 10 to 20 days, which usually causes anemia. Researchers found that the sickle cell gene is especially prevalent in areas of Africa hard-hit by malaria.
