Organization/Event: Special Olympics

Description: Kellogg Special Olympics enables Kellogg students to connect with individuals with disabilities in a recreational setting.  During Winter and Spring, Kellogg volunteers “coach” on a twice-monthly basis at several sites in Evanston and surrounding communities, helping to train athletes in events such as running, long jump, and softball throw.  Our hard work culminates in the Illinois Area V Track & Field Meet, where the athletes compete in their events, with a chance to move to the Illinois State Meet and ultimately the International Special Olympics Games.  During the year, Kellogg students also participate in on-campus, interactive events including a Special Olympics Carnival and fundraising events including a 5K Run and Bar Night.  Special Olympics is a truly inspirational activity and volunteers make a true difference in the lives of Special Olympians!
