Welcome to Chinese Business Club!

Upcoming Events

Congratulations First Years and 1Y on getting accepted to Kellogg.  We are pleased to welcome you into the Kellogg CBC family!  Welcome back Class of 2008.  We hope you had a successful and relaxing summer.

The CBC has started off the school year well.

-       On Sunday, September 16th, the first year CBC members organized a wonderful Welcome Dinner.  The event was extremely successful and we learned that there are a few chefs in the group.  Thank you once again to Li Pan (KSM’09), John Chang (KSM’09), and Jasper Cao (KSM’09) for spearheading this initiative.  Also, special thanks to Jason Tarn (KSM’08) and the CBC Co-Chairs for supporting the first years.

-       On Wednesday, September 19th, the CBC hosted an informal session on career in Investment Banking.  A large number of the CBC members turned out for the event and gained insight on a career in investment banking and recruiting.  Many special thanks to Erik Zhou (KSM’08), Ke Tang (KSM’08), Dong Li (KSM’08) for reviewing the CBC student’s resumes and facilitating this seminar.

The CBC Leadership Team is in the process of planning social and professional events.  We look forward to updating you through our list serve.  We also encourage CBC members to sign-up for the AMA list serve (our Co-Chair Ed Zhang is also a Co-Chair for the AMA).  A lot of our events will be done in conjunction with the AMA.

With recruiting underway for 1Ys and second year and Asia recruiting for first years and second years, the e-newsletter will serve as a resource to announce events hosted by the club and job opportunities.

CBC is a close community.  If you have speakers in mind or other suggestions, please let us know and we will be happy to consider it.  We look forward to seeing you at upcoming CBC events.

Student ImageWhat did you do before Kellogg?
I spent six years in Mitsubishi Motors Taiwan, in charge of product marketing and new product planning/development.  Prior to that, I also served Taiwan Army for two years as an Armor Officer, responsible for divisional training/drills and strategic operations.

What was your major at Kellogg? What were some clubs you joined while at Kellogg?
I majored in Marketing, Strategy, and Operations.  In leadership teams, I joined CBC (of course), Auto Club, Volleyball Club, Operations Management Club, and Greater China Business Conference.  Otherwise, I also signed up AMA, Marketing Club, Consulting Club, General Management Club, and Transportation Club.

What was one of the most memorable Kellogg moments?
Too many, but I would say the vacations with some of my best friends and their families from CBC.

In hindsight, what is one thing you wish you did while at Kellogg?
I wish I didn't dedicate too much of my time into too many clubs.  I must have made some trade-offs and spent more time on studies (booo~~~), networking and traveling.

What one piece of advice would you offer to a current Kellogg student?
Prior to leaving Kellogg, I didn't believe Kellogg would be the best two years in my life as advised by some Alumni.  Believe or not, it WILL BE.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Chicago/Evanston?
There're some very good restaurants, but I would recommend TAPAS as my best choice.
