New To On-Campus Recruiting

Welcome to on-campus recruiting!  The Kellogg on-campus recruiting season runs from late October through the end of November for full-time recruiting and from late January through the end of February for internship recruiting. Interview requests begin in May.

This page will give you an overview of on-campus recruiting policies and procedures. It is meant to be a guide, but not a checklist. If you have specific questions on how to proceed, please contact your Industry Relationship Manager.

Reservations:
Interview reservations are submitted online through the Kellogg Career Management System (CMS) for Employers. A company-specific username and password are required to access the CMS. Your Industry Relationship Manager can assist you if your company does not yet have or if you do not know the username and password.

Rounds:
To make the process  more manageable, interview dates are organized by “Rounds” of one-week blocks of time. Full-time interview Rounds are designated by numbers and intern interview Rounds are designated by letters. Your Round will determine the deadlines associated with your interview schedules.

Interviews:
There are two types of on-campus interviews at Kellogg: Open and Closed.

  • Open interview slots are those available to any qualified student through a competitive bidding process.
  • Closed interview slots are available by invitation from the company only.
A company can choose one of the following Closed/Open ratios:
  • 70 percent Closed/30 percent Open
  • 50 percent Closed/50 percent Open
  • 100 percent Open
The number of interview slots per schedule will be determined by the length of interview you select.

Company/Job Information:
Students will determine if they are interested in pursuing opportunities with your company by reviewing information you submit through the CMS. This information will include: job description, qualifications, job function(s), job location(s) and work authorization information. Additionally, you will select a deadline by which you would like students to submit their resume for closed interview consideration.

Student Resumes:
Companies can select candidates for their Closed interviews after any or all of the following:

  • Meeting them at a corporate event
  • Selecting them from the resume database
  • Reviewing their cover letters and resumes submitted into the CMS (most common).

Once you have selected your Closed-interview candidates and alternates, you will invite them through the CMS. Any changes to your schedule(s) (number of schedules, interview length, start and end times to the day, etc.) must be coordinated with your Industry Relationship Manager before you submit your invitations into the system.

Managing Schedules:
After your Closed list has been submitted and students have placed bids for your Open-interview slots, the CMS will process this information. Your Closed-interview invitees and the Open-slot winners will be placed into interview times based on the interview length you have chosen and the student’s availability. You can then view your tentative schedule(s) in the CMS. These schedules will remain in flux until two business days prior to your interview date, at.  After that, emergency changes will be coordinated by your Industry Relationship Manager and conveyed to recruiters when they arrive on campus.
