Building Keys

  • Keys to the Jacobs Center and MacManus Living Learning Center are issued to new students at CIM.
  • JVs of students (spouses and partners) who live in the area may obtain a key to access the Jacobs Center and McManus. This can be done through the Student Affairs Office in the Jacobs Center. The key request form should be filled out by the student, and the key will remain active only as long as the student is enrolled at Kellogg. 
  • If a key is lost, a replacement keys may be obtained through the Student Affairs Office at the Jacobs Center. There is a $5 fee for each key.
  • Keys that no longer work may be traded for a replacement key in the Student Affairs Office at the Jacobs Center.

Classroom Scheduling for Events

To avoid scheduling conflicts, classrooms may be scheduled only by the Office of Student Affairs. To request a reservation, click here or send an e-mail to JacobsClassrooms@kellogg.northwestern.edu.

Copiers

Copiers for student use are located in the Student Services Rooms 157 and 2212. For larger projects for clubs or conferences, you may use the Copy Center located on the ground floor of the Jacobs Center, behind the Atrium. 847-491-7469. You will need a club or conference SOFO number to which to charge your copying fees.

Faxing

Students may send faxes in the Student Services rooms, #157 near the stained glass window. Sending a local fax (847,773, 312, 630 or 800 area codes) is free. To send out of town faxes, you will need a phone company calling card. Calling cards may be purchased at the CVS, Walgreens and Sam's Club in Evanston.

If you do not have a calling card, the Student Affairs Office can send your fax for you. The cost is $.50 per page for domestic faxes and $1.50 per page for international faxes, and we guarantee a turn-around time of 2 hours from when you drop off your fax. Please bring your fax by the front desk, fill out a cover sheet and the fax log and then pay for the charges up front. When the fax has been submitted, it will be left in the box on the front desk for you to retrieve.

Students may also receive faxes through the Student Affairs Office. The Student Affairs fax number is 1-847-467-4077. You will be notified via email that a fax has arrived for you, and may pick it up in Student Affairs between 8:30am and 5:00pm. Please remind anyone sending you a fax to include your full name so that we can notify you of its arrival.

Where to find specific spaces in Jacobs

  • How do I find a room in Jacobs Center?
    For security reasons, maps of the Jacobs Center are not available on-line. Hard copies of building maps may be found by the elevators. You can also seek assistance at the Jacobs Center Reception Desk or in the Student Affairs Office.
  • Determine where a meeting is being held?
    Use the Serial Calendar to find the locations of club meetings, speakers and corporate presentations.
    Use Outlook to determine the location of a study group meeting.
  • What services are available in the Jacobs Center?
    Copy Center can be found on the ground level, across from Classroom G27, in room #G20.
    Mail Room is located on the ground floor, across from the Andersen elevators in room #G07.
    Changing Rooms are located on the ground floor, behind Kafe Kellogg in rooms #G17 and #G16.
    Student Lounge provides a casual environment for relaxing, eating lunch or chatting and can be found behind Kafe Kellogg and the lockers in room G08.
    Phone Room for making free local calls and long distance calls using phone credit cards is located on the second floor in room #2201.
    Student Resource Rooms offer faxing, printers and staplers and are located on the main floor in room #157 and on the second floor in room #2212.
    Computer Lab on the second floor in room #2222.
    KIS Support is located in room #161 on the main floor.
    Career Resource Center can be found on the second floor, across from the Career Management Center in room #279.
    Kafe Kellogg Office is located in room G37 on the ground floor.

Kellogg Student Affairs Office

Kellogg Student Affairs Office is the activity center for the Kellogg student body. It is home to two departments, the Office of Student Life, and the Office of Registration and Student Records.

The Office of Student Life provides resources, support, and program advising for students and their families.

The Office of Registration and Student Records provides information pertaining to classes, bidding, curriculum, degree requirements and more for the Full and Part Time MBA programs.

Our office is located in the Donald P. Jacobs Center, room 104. You may reach the Student Affairs office by calling 847-491-4504 or by directly emailing any of the Student Life or Registrar staff members.

Lockers

  • A locker is assigned to each full-time student at the time of his/her enrollment. Locker information is provided to incoming students during their orientation. 
  • Lockers are located along corridors and in small rooms throughout the building. Information on the location of your specific locker can be found in the Student Affairs Office.
  • For instructions on how to open a combination lock, please refer here.
  • Any malfunctions with lockers should be reported to Mariellen Gibson in the Administration Office.
  • In the unlikely event that your locker is double assigned, please do let the Student Affairs Office know this. 
  • If you forget your locker combination, please come to the front desk of the Student Affairs Office.
  • Should your locker need cleaning out, please contact the Student Affairs Office, or Mariellen Gibson in Administration.

Lost and Found

Lost items may be brought to the front desk of the Student Affairs Office. If you are missing an item, please come to the Student Affairs Office to see if it has been turned in.

Mailroom / FedEX / DHL

The quickest way to mail things is to drop them in the US Postal Service mailbox on the corner of Foster and Sheridan. You may also leave stamped items in the Student Affairs Office or use the Mailroom on the ground floor of the Jacobs Center, located just across from the western most bank of elevators. Fed Ex and DHL drop boxes may be found here as well.

Maintenance Requests / Facilities Concerns

To report a facilities concern, request repairs or seek assistance with adjusting the temperature within the Jacobs Center, please contact Mariellen Gibson at 847-491-3450.

Nameplates

  • Pre-printed nameplates and plastic stands are provided to each student before the start of classes. The name used on these nameplates is taken from the information provided by students in their pre-enrollment materials. These nameplates are used for all classes.
  • If your name is misspelled, or changes during your time as a student, please come to Student Affairs to request a replacement nameplate.
  • If you lose your nameplate, a replacement nameplate can be ordered through the Student Affairs Office. The cost for a replacement nameplate is $10. Clear plastic base holders are also available in Student Affairs.

Nametags

  • Pre-printed nametags are provided to each student before the start of classes. The name used on these nametags is taken from the information provided by students in their pre-enrollment materials. These nametags are used for recruiting events, conferences, and other school related activities.
  • If your name is misspelled, or changes during your time as a student, please come to Student Affairs to request a replacement nametag.
  • If you lose your nametag, a replacement nameplate can be ordered through the Student Affairs Office. The cost for a replacement nametag is $15.

Packages

The Student Affairs Office can receive small packages for students. Our address is 2001 Sheridan Road, #104, Evanston, IL 60208. You will be emailed to notify you that a package has arrived for you, and you may pick it up in Student Affairs between 8:30am and 5:00pm Monday - Friday. Please remind anyone sending you a package to include your full name in the address so that we can notify you of its arrival.

Conferences or special events may also have packages delivered to the Student Affairs Office at the address listed above. Please notify the Student Affairs Office of your expected shipment and please make sure that your name and group name is included in the address, so that we can notify you of its arrival. If your shipment is of a large size, it will be temporarily stored elsewhere in the building, until the time of your event.

To make long distance calls, you will need a phone company calling card. Calling cards may be purchased at CVS, Walgreens and Sam's Club in Evanston.

Group conference calls for class may be made in the group study rooms on the 2nd floor of the north wing. Please reserve the room on-line prior to establishing the time for your call, to ensure that you are able to complete the call.  Local calls (847,773, 312, 630 or 800 area codes) are free. Just dial 9-1-area code-phone number. To make long distance calls, you will need a phone company calling card. Calling cards may be purchased at CVS, Walgreens and Sam's Club in Evanston.

Reserving Spaces in Jacobs Center

To reserve other spaces in the Jacobs Center, such as the Atrium, Atrium Annex, LSR, Owen L. Coon Auditorium, Room 2245 and Room 5237, please contact Dean Carole Cahill.

Student Mailboxes

  • Each full-time student is assigned a mailbox in the Jacobs Center during the time that they are enrolled in classes. These mailboxes are located on the first floor of the Jacobs Center, in the hallway overlooking the atrium, just to your left before the stairway down to the atrium. The mailboxes are "cubby hole" style and are where event information can be shared.  Because they are not secured, items of value should not be left in the mailboxes, but should be brought to the Student Affairs Office for pick-up by the intended recipient.
  • To change the way your name is listed on your mailbox, please come to the front desk of the Student Affairs Office. 
  • Mailboxes are cleaned out and moved between the first and second year of study for 2Y MBA students.

Study Rooms / Conference Call Rooms

You may reserve study and conference call rooms at Jacobs as well as study rooms in McManus via the Outlook Calendar site.

Verification Letters

Open/Close
The Office of Student Affairs can provide students with letters verifying their student status or verifying their residency. Student Affairs can also create letters required for visas for KWEST and GIM or other similar travel letters. To request a student verification letter, please come to the front desk at Registration and Records, and fill out the letter request form. Please allow one full business day for processing. For other letters, please come to the Student Affairs front desk. We will create the letter, sign it, and email you to let you know that it is ready for pick-up.
