SKEW3 DIRECTORIES

The following chart shows the main directories in skew3:

Users' home directories are located in /kellogg/users/, under a sub-directory named after their corresponding department, while the data sets are stored in /kellogg/data.

All the application software (SAS, Stata, Matlab, Mathematica, etc) is in /usr/local. The compilers are in /usr/SUNWspro/bin.

Another important directory is /scratch, which is used for storing users' temporary files and intermediate results of running jobs. In order to save a temporary file to scratch, use the "make_scratch" utility. This utility creats a scratch space in /scrtach/users/yourskewid and link it to yout home directory. The files stored in /scratch willl be deleted if they have not been modified during the past 14 days.
