December 15, 2004: New dataset - OptionMetrics's IvyDB We have added the following data set to our collection: OptionMetrics' Ivy DB contains daily end-of-day bid and ask quotes, open interest, and trading volume on every call and put option on individual stocks traded in US exchanges, as well as open and close prices, return, dividend and split prices for the stocks covered. The first date available is January 4, 1996.. Research Computing would like to acknowledge the Finance Department and the Dean's Office for financing the subscription to OptionMetrics' Ivy DB. November 2, 2004: New datasets In the course of the previous months, we have added the following data sets to our collection: Loan Pricing Corporation DealScan is a database of deal terms and conditions on over 50,000 loans, high yield bonds, private placements,and hybrid financing structures originated globally since 1988. This is an update to 2000 data acquisition. http://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/researchcomputing/dealscan.htm Loan Pricing Corporation LSTA/LPC Mark-to-Market Pricing data. Global Mark-to-Market provides prices for bank assets in the secondary loan market. This subscription complements DealScan. Moody's Default Risk Services provides data on defaults, recoveries and rating changes for all corporate and sovereign issuers of long term bonds and syndicated bank loans that have carried a Moody's rating since 1970. /LI> S&P Compustat to SEC EDGAR link file: This is a custom file from Standard & Poor's that maps Compustat firm unique identifiers (GVKEY) to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) EDGAR identifiers (Central Index Key, "CIK"). This facilitates merging data compiled from the SEC to data in Compustat. Research Computing would like to acknowledge the Zell Center and the Accounting Research Center for funding the subscription to LPC's DealScan and Global Mark-to-Market Pricing data, the Finance Department for financing the subscription to Moody's Default Risk Service, and professor Mitchell Petersen for funding the acquisition of the S&P-SEC link file. June 9, 2004: New datasets In the previous months we have added the following data sets to our collection: comScore Panelist Level Database provides disaggregate data on on-line purchase transaction and visits. The dataset contains 100,000 panelists, which are static random machines in the U.S. within a specified time period (currently, June 2002 through December 2002). Panel Data consists of point-of-sale information from more than 11,300 grocery stores, as well as some 7,500 drug stores for the 1983 through 1997 period. It was formerly known as the "IRI Marketing Factbook". January 5, 2004: The UNIX server SKEW3 has been upgraded Research computing has replaced the three-year old UNIX server with a new SUN Fire V480 server. The major improvements include: 4 processors of 1.2 GHz each 16 GB of RAM, doubled quota space of 200 MB and scratch space Faster I/O Compared to the old server (a three-year old Sun V420R), the new machine has more than double the CPU speed, and has four-times more RAM. The new system is designed to provide improvements in both computing and I/O, providing faster run times for SAS, Matlab, STATA and many other batch jobs. The transition should be seamless to users: (1) we preserve the host name (SKEW3); (2) the file directory layout are the same; (3) login ids and passwords are also retained; (4) we run the same operating system (Solaris 8).
