Availability

Unix: The Java interpreter version 1.2.1 is installed in Kellogg's research server, skew3 and the DCE/DFS systems in Northwestern.

MS Windows: JavaTM 2 SDK, Standard Edition version 1.3.1 can be downloaded from java.sun.com. Refer to their installation instructions.

Description

Java is an object-oriented programming language developed by Sun. It is similar to C and C++, but it is not based on any of those languages. Java was designed to be cross-platform in source form like C, and also in compiled binary form.
