Availability

Compustat Global can be accessed both through a web interface and via Unix, programming in SAS or Fortran. To facilitate access, Kellogg has subscribed to Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS).

Compustat can be accessed by Kellogg faculty and doctoral students using their WRDS accounts. MBA students may access WRDS via an automatic login (controlled by IP address) from the first and second floors in the Jacobs Center, as well as the lab workstations in Wieboldt Hall, please point your web browser to wrds.wharton.upenn.edu/connect. A temporary class account and password to the WRDS's web interface can be requested by faculty members in the context of a course, for instructional purposes and applies for a class account.

Description

Standard & Poor's Compustat Global provides financial and stock market data for publicly traded companies in 82 countries, representing over 90% of the world's market capitalization. This dataset covers 12 years of annual history.

Kellogg’s subscription to Compustat includes the files listed below.

• Industrial/Commercial: contains data for Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Flow of Funds, and supplemental data items.
• Financial Services: covers financial companies and contains data for Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Flow of Funds, and supplemental data items
• Issue file: contains stock market related items, including monthly prices, dividends, shares traded, issued capital, and earnings per share.
• Currency: contains month-end and average translation rate items and cross-rate tables for designated currencies
