Gary
M. Bald
Executive Assistant Director—Counterterrorism
and Counterintelligence
Federal Bureau of Investigation
Mr. Bald
began his career with the FBI in Washington, DC, in October
1977, where he served in the Laboratory Division. In 1981,
he was transferred to the Albany Division where he handled
violent crime and drug matters; then in 1984 he received a
transfer to the Philadelphia Division, where he investigated
corruption and drug matters. In 1989, he was transferred to
the Office of Professional Responsibility, Inspection Division,
in Washington, DC, where he was responsible for conducting
and directing investigations of internal misconduct. In 1991,
he was transferred to the Newark Division, where he had supervisory
responsibility for organized crime and drug matters and coordinated
the FBI’s drug investigations in New Jersey.
In 1995, Mr. Bald
was transferred to the Inspection Division, Washington, DC,
where he was responsible for evaluating the operational and
administrative effectiveness of FBI Field, Headquarters and
Legal Attaché operations. In 1996, he was selected
to be the Chief of the Policy, Planning and Analysis Unit,
Criminal Investigations Division, where he managed the FBI’s
role in Drug Task Forces and coordinated the FBI’s review
and development of investigative policies.
In late 1996, Mr.
Bald was selected to be an Assistant Special Agent in Charge
of the Atlanta Division. In this capacity he was responsible
for overseeing the FBI’s organized crime and drug investigations
throughout the state of Georgia. In addition, he was responsible
for overseeing all FBI investigative matters conducted in
the northern region of Georgia.
In January 1999,
Mr. Bald was detailed to the Criminal Division, and later
to the Inspection Division, FBIHQ, where he led the investigation
of a high profile Organized Crime/Corruption matter in the
Boston Division relating to the James “Whitey”
Bulgar case. In September 2002, Mr. Bald was named Special
Agent in charge of the Baltimore Division, where he had responsibility
for all FBI activities in the states of Maryland and Delaware.
In November 2003, Mr. Bald was selected by Director Mueller
to be the Deputy Assistant Director of Counterterrorism Operations,
Counterterrorism Division, FBIHQ. In this position, he had
national program management responsibility for all international
and domestic terrorism investigations, including those involving
weapons of mass destruction. In March 2004, Director Mueller
appointed Mr. Bald as Assistant Director of the Counterterrorism
Division.

David
Burr
Assistant
Vice President, Risk Management
The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF)
David Burr is assistant vice president, Risk Management
for The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF).
His responsibilities include insurance risk management and
commodity risk management. He is also president and director
of two of BNSF’s insurance subsidiaries in Vermont and
Bermuda. Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, Burlington Northern
Santa Fe Corporation operates one of the largest rail systems
in North America, with 32,500 route miles covering 28 states
and two Canadian provinces.
Since
joining BNSF in 1980, Burr has held a number of positions
within the Risk Management Department prior to being promoted
to his current position in 1999. He was president of Railroad
Association Insurance Ltd., a Bermuda railroad association
captive insurance company. He has served in various capacities
in the Chicago Chapter of Risk and Insurance Management Society,
including a term as president.
Burr received
his Bachelor of Arts in Risk and Insurance from Michigan State
University in June 1977. He received his MBA in June 1990
from the University of Chicago.
Burr and
his wife, Lori, reside in Southlake, Texas. They are the proud
parents of three children. Their son, Bryan, and their daughters,
Brittany and Grace Ann.

Robert
T. Francis II

The Honorable
Robert Talcott Francis II is immediate past Vice Chairman
of the National Transportation Safety Board, a position to
which he was appointed by President Clinton in January 1995
and confirmed by the United States Senate.
After
joining the Safety Board, Mr. Francis was the senior NTSB
official at a number of transportation accident investigations,
including the explosion and crash of TWA Flight 800 off Long
Island, New York; the crash of ValuJet Flight 592 in the Florida
Everglades, and a Learjet 35 accident in Mina, South Dakota.
In addition to his accident investigation work, he is actively
involved as a member of the Flight Safety Foundation’s
ICARUS Committee and NASA’S Aerospace Safety Advisory
Panel. He has specialized in international aviation safety
issues, and has spoken extensively about international standardization
and cooperation. Mr. Francis is a recipient of an Aviation
Week and Space Technology 1996 Laurels Award and was recognized
by both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard for meritorious
service in the TWA Flight 800 investigation. He is also recipient
of the L. Welch Pogue Award presented by Aviation Week in
recognition of his achievements in aviation safety and operations.

Glassgen

Transportation Sector
Gregory
Glassgen is a transactional lawyer and consultant to the transportation
sector within Europe and the Far East. After working in Chicago
with the law firm of Rosenthal and Schanfield, P.C., he moved
his practice to Brussels in 1990 where he represented various
corporate clients in financial matters. Mr. Glassgen was an
establisher and principal of one of the first corporations
to be registered in Russia after the break-up of the Soviet
Union. That company, Kareltrans Ltd., became a leading Russian-oriented
trucking and logistics firm transporting consumer goods to
newly opened Eastern markets. From 1998 to 2003 he was Managing
Director of Moscow Container Line (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. which
coordinates Russian-bound shipments ex-Asia. In 2000, he co-founded
and continues to advise the investment board of the Finnish-based
diversified holding company, Ruukki Group Ltd. (listed on
the Helsinki exchange), whose interests include transportation-related
technologies.
Mr. Glassgen
has a M.Sc. in International Management from Boston University
(Brussels), a J.D. from Chicago Kent School of Law and a B.A.
from Loyola University Chicago. He is a member of the Illinois
and Florida State Bars.

Mark is the Director, Global
Security for Abbott Laboratories located in North Chicago,
IL. Abbott Laboratories is a broad-based health care company
that discovers, develops, manufactures and markets products
and services that span the continuum of care. Abbott serves
customers in more than 130 countries, with a staff of 55,000-plus
at more than 120 manufacturing, distribution, research and
development, and other locations. In 2003, Abbott achieved
sales and net earnings of $19.7 billion and $3.5 billion respectively.
Prior to Abbott, Mark was the Director of
Safety and Security for WW Grainger, Inc., and the Director
of Corporate Security for Kraft Foods. Before joining the
corporate ranks, Mark owned and operated several different
investigative agencies and security officer companies in suburban
Chicago. Mark is a former investigator with the DuPage County
State’s Attorney in the Chicago area where he was assigned
to the Special Prosecutions Unit.
Mark holds a Bachelor’s Degree from
Western Illinois University in Law Enforcement Administration
and Political Science and received his Master’s Degree
in Security Management from Webster University where he was
named as a distinguished graduate. In 2004, Mark received
a certificate from the Kellogg School of Mangement Executive
Program for completing the ISMA-Senior Executive Leadership
Program.
Mark has been a member of ASIS since 1991
and is board certified as a Certified Protection Professional
(CPP). Mark is the former Chairman of the Council on Business
Practices and served on the Council for six years.
Mark is also a member of the International
Security Management Association (ISMA) and has served on the
Technology and Professional Development committees. In addition,
Mark is a charter member of the Conference Boards’s
Counicl of Corporate Security Executives.
Mark serves on the Curriculum Advisory Boards
for both Western Illinois University and the University of
Phoenix and has taught security management courses as an adjunct
graduate professor at Webster University
Mark has presented at many national conferences and workshops.
Mark and his wife, Karen, have four children and reside in
Lake Zurich, Illinois.

Vice President Supply Chain Services
Grainger
Vince was named Vice President Supply Chain Services in January
2004. In his role, Vince will be responsible for transportation,
product control, logistics development, and management of
our Master Branches. Vince is responsible for providing strategic
leadership in the development and implementation of effective,
best practices in supply chain management.
Vince
joined Grainger in January 2002 as Director of Transportation
and since that time has successfully led the team that implemented
our Inbound Supply Chain Optimization initiative.
Prior
to joining Grainger Vince spent 18 years at United Parcel
Service where his last assignment was Director of Sales and
Marketing in Europe.
Vince
holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration
and Marketing from DePaul University and is working on his
Executive MBA at Northwestern University Kellogg School of
Management.

Matty
Manager, Supply Chain Strategy and Risk Management

Rick Matty
is currently managing supply chain strategy and manufacturing
risk management within the Supply Chain Architecture group
at Cisco Systems. His responsibilities include developing
and managing processes to analyze and link supply chain strategies
throughout Cisco’s manufacturing organizations. Additionally,
he leads Cisco’s manufacturing risk management programs
– focused specifically on risk assessments, impact analyses,
early warning, and supply chain continuity.
Rick joined
Cisco in July 2003 as a program manager in the Supply Chain
Architecture group. Prior to joining Cisco, he held the position
of vice president of Services and Development at OpsTechnology,
the leading provider of property operations technology solutions
to the real estate management industry. In this role, Rick
managed both the professional services and product development
groups, and was responsible for the development and deployment
of all major technology releases. Before joining OpsTechnology,
he worked at Accenture in the Customer Relationship Management
practice, based out of their San Francisco office.
Rick started
his career as an officer in the United States Air Force stationed
at Vandenberg AFB, CA. Here he was responsible for launch
engineering and operations for several systems used to deliver
national defense, government, or private satellites into orbit.
Rick holds
bachelor’s and master’s of science degrees in
electrical engineering from Lehigh University, and is a graduate
of the Kellogg MMM program, earning a master’s of business
administration from the Kellogg School of Management and a
master’s of engineering management from the McCormick
School of Engineering, both at Northwestern University.
Rick resides
in Santa Cruz, CA with his wife and son.

Mr. Prescott
has been President, CEO and Director of Align Technology,
Inc. since April 2002. From May 1999 until August 2001 (when
Boston Scientific completed its $115 million acquisition),
Mr. Prescott was President, CEO and Director of Cardiac Pathways
Corporation. From 1996 until 1999, Mr. Prescott served as
Vice President and General Manager of a $200 million respiratory
business unit of Nellcor Puritan Bennett (departing after
Mallinckrodt completed its acquisition of Nellcor Puritan
Bennett), and in other senior leadership roles for Nellcor
since 1994. Prior to Nellcor, Mr. Prescott served in various
roles at GE Medical Systems as well as Siemens. Mr. Prescott
holds a Bachelors in Engineering from Arizona State University
and a Masters in Management (MM) from Kellogg Graduate School
of Management at Northwestern University. Mr. Prescott also
serves as a director for Interventional Rhythm Management,
Inc.

growth, positioning and segmentation opportunities.
Prior to joining
NECG, Shapiro spent 21 years in industry. He progressed through
the marketing ranks at General Mills and The Quaker Oats Company,
working on such brands as Betty Crocker Desserts, Big “G”
Cereals, Gatorade and Kibbles ‘n Bits. Later, he assumed
executive positions at Quaker including President-Latin American
Foods Division, President-The Golden Grain Company and The
Quaker Oats Company of Canada, Ltd., and Senior Vice President-Corporate
Strategy & Development.
Shapiro
holds a BA in Political Science from Union College, Schenectady,
NY, and an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the Kellogg School
of Management. He worked in the public sector before returning
to graduate school. He serves as a member of the Executive
Committee of the Kellogg Alumni Advisory Board, and is a frequent
speaker in classes at Kellogg.
