Perceptions and Capital Markets
On January
25, 2002, Donald P. Jacobs, Dean Emeritus and Director of the
Zell Center for Risk Research, opened the center's inaugural
conference. Kellogg Finance Professor Kent Daniel organized
the conference, titled "Risk Perceptions and Capital Markets."
Nearly 90 participants from US and international academic institutions
participated. The conference was held at the James L. Allen
Center.
Participants
presented nine papers in the fields of economics, finance
and psychology.

at Princeton University, was keynote speaker at the Zell
Center Conference in January. |

The keynote
speaker for the event Daniel Kahneman, the Eugene Higgins
Professor of Psychology at Princeton University, and one of
the pioneers of the field of behavioral economics. Kahneman's
address was entitled "Psychology and the Market."
Kahneman discussed the new emphasis on emotion in decision-making
that he believes will be influential in behavioral economics
and psychology.
