Abstract
This talk will
provide a selective overview of research of the last 10 years
in the broadly defined field of international operations /
global supply chains. We will explore in some detail the following
three themes:
1. The Structure
of Global Facility Networks
(Design and location of sourcing, production and distribution
facility networks for global markets).
2. Role of Operational Hedging in Managing Risks and
Disruptions in Global Supply Chains.
3. Global (Out) Sourcing Strategies.
We will also briefly
outline how some of these research results, concepts, managerial
issues and insights can find their way into the (E) MBA classroom
as part of courses in International Operations/ Global Supply
Chain Management.
