GHI has conducted field research in several developing countries in support of a portable infant HIV test and low cost viral load product.  Both of these products are under development at the Northwestern University Center for Innovation in Global Health Technologies utilizing Abbott technology.

Abbott Laboratories is a healthcare company based in Lake County Illinois with over 120 years of producing pharmaceuticals, medical devices and nutritional products.  Two divisions of Abbott are collaborating with CIGHT, Abbott Diagnostics and Abbott Molecular.  Abbott Diagnostics is one of the world’s leading immunodiagnostics companies with extensive experience in HIV screening, which includes the first commercially available assay for HIV sero-conversion.  Abbott Molecular is a combination of molecular diagnostic platform groups from Abbott Diagnostics and Abbott’s acquisition of Vysis Diagnostics.  Abbott Molecular develops nucleotide based automated assays for the diagnosis and monitoring of HIV and other clinically relevant markers.

GHI has conducted field research in several developing countries in support of a portable infant HIV test. This test is under development at the Northwestern University Center for Innovation in Global Health Technologies utilizing Inverness’ technology.

Inverness is a global leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of rapid point of care diagnostic tests.  In the United States they are best known for the Clearblue® Easy tests for pregnancy, fertility and ovulation.  In the developing world, Inverness manufactures rapid diagnostic tests for HIV sero-conversion under the Determine® brand.
