Undergraduate Diversity Research Awards
The Center on the Science of Diversity is pleased to offer research funding for undergraduate projects advancing the science of diversity, broadly construed. These funds are awarded by the CSD Steering Committee on a competitive basis. Funding up to $500 per project will be available to support primary research expenses and/or the travel costs associated with presenting the research at a conference. Students MUST have a faculty adviser for their projects. Undergraduates from any Northwestern University program may apply for these awards, but the funding will be reserved for scientific research projects (rather than, for example, artistic projects). Projects that have already received research funding from other Northwestern sources (such as the NU Undergraduate Research Grants program) are not eligible for these grants.
Applications consist of (1) a maximum 3-page, single-spaced description of the project, including background and significance of the research, primary hypotheses, and proposed research methods; (2) a budget detailing how the funds would be used; and (3) a letter of support from the faculty mentor who will be supervising the project. Completed applications should be submitted electronically to email@example.com. Applications for 2010-11 are currently being accepted and will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis until available funds are expended. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via email. Award recipients will be required to provide a brief final report describing the outcome of their projects.
