A core part of the GHI is student involvement. Working behind the scenes to integrate the GHI into MBAs curricular and extra curricular activities is a steering committee of first and second year students at Kellogg School of Management. Jeff Bird
Jeff is a second year student at Kellogg who first became involved in GHI through extracurricular project work and through his participation in the Global Immersion in Management class in Uganda. In Uganda, Jeff investigated the feasibility of implementing GHI’s point of care infant HIV diagnostic at immunization sites. Jeff interned with a marketing team at Genentech during the summer and plans to continue in the healthcare industry after Kellogg. He looks forward to writing cases that will educate other Kellogg students about some of the challenges in global health and the solutions that business people can provide. |

Mohit Jolly
Mohit was one of the student leaders for the GIM Uganda trip in 2009. While working as a part of the leadership team and the distribution team he learned a tremendous amount about the special challenges faced by the different stakeholders in a health care system in resource constrained settings. His experiences from GIM Uganda motivated him to continue his involvement with the Global Health Initiative. |

Surbhi Martin
Surbhi is a second-year student at Kellogg who first became involved in the Global Health Initiative as a co-curriculum leader for the 2009 Global Immersion in Management GHI class to Uganda. Prior to Kellogg, Surbhi worked as a marketing consultant in New York for non-profit and private sector clients. She spent the past summer interning at The Boston Consulting Group and will be chairing the 2009 Innovating Social Change conference at Kellogg. In the GHI Field Research position, Surbhi looks forward to creating more opportunities for students to become involved in GHI projects globally. |

Abdul-Nasser (Nas) Alidu
Nas is a second year student majoring in Finance and Entrepreneurship. Prior to Kellogg, he was Head of Sales at Ecobank Ghana Limited, starting the bank’s sales department and successfully rolling out the bank’s direct sales program. He also started a Microfinance business in Ghana that enables women running small and medium enterprises to save and gain access to credit. Nas has also worked on a start-up Online Medical Journal focusing on infectious diseases in Africa. He has a deep passion for Global Health and Entrepreneurship. In addition to being Co-Chair of Projects and Academics for the Global Health Initiative, Nas is also Co-President of the Kellogg Africa Business Club. |

Shaunak Patel
Shaunak is a first-year student at Kellogg interested in working in the developing world medical device industry. Prior to Kellogg, Shaunak worked at L.E.K. Consulting in Boston, focusing on the Life Science and Medical Device practice areas. Through this internal marketing position, Shaunak hopes to raise awareness of global health issues and GHI within Kellogg. |

Chadrashekhar (Shekhar) Ramaswamy
Shekhar is a second year, part-time student at Kellogg interested in technologies that are designed grounds up for the emerging markets. He is passionate about helping the underprivileged and GHI gives him a great opportunity to meet this goal. Shekhar is excited about continuing his contributions to GHI for a second year. He plans to increase awareness about GHI and its mission across the globe as a external marketing committee chair. Outside of Kellogg, Shekhar is a full time senior engineer at Intel Corporation and is involved in research and development of the processors that are ubiquitous in our computers. In his free time, Shekhar loves to travel to different countries and experience the culture first hand. |
