FIRST ASSIGNMENT : Attendance first class mandatory: First Assignment: 1. Read and be prepared to discuss Chapter 1; "The Total Package". 2. Visit a local supermarket (e.g. Jewel Dominicks and purchase one package product that you feel needs a front panel packaging graphics redesign. Select any mass marketed/national brand from any category ( e.g. cereal, salad dressing, cold medicine, storage bags etc.) Don't choose an obscure brand. Choose a relatively well know brand and product. 3. Prepare a typewritten list of five Design CommunicationsObjectives you would give your package design consultant when asking them to redesign your package. These objectives should be "strategic" (e.g. contemporize the design or improve the appetite appeal of the front macro photograph of a chocolate cake). Bring your selected package to class and be prepared to present your five communication objectives. Turn in two copies of the assignment. |
