We will also discuss what is meant by market efficiency, and why this matters - or does not matter - to firms' financial decision-makers. To prepare for the first class, you should read Chapter 13 of Brealey and Myers, Principles of Corporate Finance. Also, read "Warren Buffet on Efficient Markets" and "Lessons From a Hurricane: It Pays Not to Gouge". Both of these articles are included in your case packet. You should also remember to bring your name-plate to the first and subsequent classes. The web page will be used as the primary mechanism for transferring documents. Lecture outlines, problem sets, problem set solutions, and previous exams will all be made available on the web page. To read these files, you must have Adobe's Acrobat Reader.
