FIRST ASSIGNMENT: Reading: Scott-Morton (1999), Why economics has been fruitful for strategy.  Shapiro and Varian  (1999), Networks and positive feedback.  Suggested Review:  “theory of perfect competition” in a microeconomics textbook.   Cases:  “Nintendo Co., Inc” and “The Oil Tanker Industry in 1973.”  Discussion questions for both cases are in the packet and on the course’s Blackboard site.  Please come to class prepared to participate.  Exercise due:  perfect competition in the market for supertankers.
