The Kellogg School of Management is proud to host the 2011 Real Estate Conference:
“Scoping Opportunity: Strategies Igniting Future Growth.”

The conference will concentrate on how real estate owners, operators, and developers can create value following the Global Financial Crisis. A broad range of expert panelists from across the industry will offer their analysis of current industry trends and their opinions on which demand drivers will shape the recovery and ignite future growth. Panelists will also offer their insights on post-crisis capital raising strategies at the forefront of today’s market.  The event seeks to provide an intellectual exploration of real estate topics of national and global significance – because while real estate will always remain a local business, a global perspective is more important than ever. “Scoping Opportunity” promises to be an incredible forum for education, knowledge-sharing and industry networking for Kellogg students, alumni, and industry professionals.

PANEL 1: Post-Crisis Debt & Equity Capital Markets - "To Raise and Deploy"

“To Raise and Deploy” will examine fundraising from both a project- and fund-level perspective.  Panelists will discuss current institutional equity requirements for a range of investment vehicles, including closed end funds, individual investments, and speculative developments.  In addition, panelists will provide a snapshot of today’s constantly evolving debt capital markets and lender expectations.

PANEL 2: Demand Drivers and Development Panel - “What’s Your Trigger?”

“What’s Your Trigger” will explore how professional developers and corporations with heavy real estate exposure interpret today’s macroeconomic conditions as indicators of future development activity.  Panelists will discuss how they have navigated the downturn and creatively adapted to current development opportunities through unconventional methods - whether through creative financings, or gaining expertise in different property types or alternative geographic locations.
