USING X-WIN32 TO ACCESS SKEW4 AND OTHER UNIX SERVERS

Kellogg users wishing to access skew4 using an X windows emulator may use StarNet's X-Win32. The Academic Technologies group of Northwestern University has purchased an unlimited campus license for this application. Under this license, Kellogg users can get a copy of the software at no cost to them.

INSTALLING AND CONFIGURING X-WIN32

  • All the necessary files and license information are available at:
    http://www.it.northwestern.edu/research/sscc/xwin32.html/
  • Install and configure X-Win32 according to these instructions
  • This procedure also works for other UNIX servers such as WRDS and SSCC, although some minor details may differ. Please note that SSCC does not support the "single-window" connection mode.
