SKEW3 DESCRIPTION

Hardware

Skew3 is a Sun Fire V480 server, running SunOS 5.8. It has four UltraSparc III processors, running at 1.2 GHz. The total RAM space of skew3 is 16 GB. The total usable disk space for application and data is about 2 TB. The storage consists of two 73 GB internal hard disk drives, a SUN StorEdge 3510 disk array which contains twelve 146GB 10,000 rpm drives and an A1000 raided disk array which contains twelve 36GB disks arranged in a number of partitions (both raided and not).

Maintenance

Skew3 is maintained by Northwestern's Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) and is physically located at Northwestern's Evanston Data Center.

Software applications

Major statistical software applications, compilers and various utilities on skew3 include:

  • Software: SAS, Stata, Matlab, Mathematica, Gauss, SPSS, SPlus, Maple, and Limdep.

  • Compilers: C, C++, f77, and f90

  • Text programming tools: acrobat, latex, tex, ghostscript, and many more.

  • Many GNU utilities are installed in /usr/local/bin.
