Kellogg eLab policy information and online consent

You must register to be a member of the Kellogg eLab subject pool before participating in any studies run by the Kellogg School of Management.

Please carefully read the informed consent information below. By providing your email address and registering on Kellogg eLab you certify that you have read this information and that you understand the terms described below:

The researchers at Kellogg School of Management are conducting research on a wide range of topics, examining social perceptions, decision-making processes, consumer preferences, and economic behavior. Participation in this research will involve completing simple online surveys.

Most of the surveys will take less than 15 minutes to complete, and you will automatically entered into the lottery for a prize once you have completed the whole study.

The probability and the chances of winning typically vary from 1/50 to 1/100, and the prizes vary from $25-50 in the form of an electronic gift certificate issued by a major online retailer. You will be provided with the information on probability of winning and prize before you start any of our studies. For studies that last more than 15 minutes you will be paid $5 per 30 minutes, and $10 per hour.

The studies on this website should pose no physical or emotional risk (short or long term) to those participating. A description of any increased risk for a specific study will be provided before your start the study.

All of your responses will be kept confidential. Only the researchers involved in this study and those responsible for research oversight will have access to the information you provide. Your responses will be numbered, and the code linking your number with your name will be stored in a separate database. Data transmission at the time of registration is protected with SSL encryption. However, no guarantees can be made regarding the interception of data sent via the Internet during study completion when third party software may be used.

Your email address will only be used to notify you if you win the prize lottery and to inform you of the new studies as they become available.

Participation in our studies is completely voluntary. You are free to decline participation in any particular study, to end participation at any time for any reason, or to refuse to answer any individual question without penalty or loss of compensation. You can complete as many online studies as you wish. Furthermore, you can unsubscribe at any time by emailing Elab-expadmin@kellogg.northwestern.edu.
