Technology Education @ Kellogg (TEK) Classes

Kellogg offers Ongoing TEK Classes regularly throughout the school year so that students can brush up on their software skills. Please consult the TEK class schedule for a list of upcoming classes.

** SPSS classes are hands-on courses that require a computer with SPSS installed. SPSS is bundled with the textbook of the Marketing Research course (MKTG-450). Please install the software in your laptop prior to the session. KIS cannot provide copies of the software.

SPSS is a statistical package commonly used in business and the social sciences. In this session, we will cover the basics of using the student version of SPSS.

SPSS is bundled with the textbook of the Marketing Research course (MKTG-450); please install the software in your laptop prior to the session. KIS cannot provide copies of the software.

The topics covered in the session are the following:

  • How to read text (ASCII) data and how to import from Excel
  • Computing and recoding data
  • Obtaining frequencies and descriptive statistics
  • Comparing means and proportions
  • Analysis of variance
  • Running regression (create dummy variables, regression diagnostics)
  • Creating graphs

The Research Datadases session will cover NU Library-subscription databases that are useful for business and management research, both in the curriculum and in career management. Follow along on your laptop with some of the searches as case study-type research questions are used to search within the databases. Learn keyword search techniques, reasons for selecting particular databases for specific information needs, and the range of information available to you at Kellogg, including:
