CMC Registration

The Part-Time MBA Program is designed for fully employed students who intend to pursue the MBA degree while they continue their careers in the Chicago area. The program traditionally has had little involvement in formal career development services. An approach of limited assistance is appropriate given that most students receive tuition benefits and other forms of financial aid from employers. It would raise ethical problems for Kellogg to provide direct career management services to persons in these circumstances.

Kellogg will provide access for some part-time students to enroll in the formal Career Management process. These students are eligible for the same career development assistance as the full-time students, including individual career counseling, access to the Career Management Center and participation in on-campus recruiting.

To qualify to use Kellogg's Career Management Center services, a student must be graduating during the current academic year and not have received any tuition reimbursement from his or her employer. Exceptions are made for those who have written authorization from their employers. If the student's present employer no longer offers tuition assistance as a benefit, the student does not need to submit the authorization letter from his/her manager.

This policy regarding the use of career management services is continually under review by the faculty, students and administration of Kellogg. Consequently, this policy is subject to change without notice.

Therefore, in the interest of best preparing its students to represent themselves and the School, Kellogg has established a deadline by which students must commit themselves to the recruiting process and register for career management services.

The registration process for utilizing the Career Management Center of the Kellogg School of Management is from April 6 – May 16, 2009. There will not be any extensions of this deadline.

Students registering for the CMC must follow these guidelines:

  1. The student will be completing all of his/her Kellogg PTMBA program degree requirements between December, 2009 and August 2010.
  2. If a student has received any amount of tuition assistance from his/her current employer, the student must have a letter of authorization signed by his/her direct manager. The template required for this letter is below. However, if the present employer no longer offers tuition assistance as a benefit, the student does not need the authorization letter.
  3. If a student has not received any tuition assistance at all from his/her current employer, no authorization letter is required.
  4. The student must complete the registration form below.
  5. If a student has 7 or more years of work experience, the student will be asked to meet with a CMC counselor prior to the start of activities in the summer quarter to manage expectations of the CMC experience.

Students who participate in the CMC for the 2009-2010 academic year will begin CMC activities in late June, once the summer quarter begins.
