NetIDs and changing your NetID password
Kellogg students have one computer account: a University NetID. Your NetID is your key to online resources at Kellogg and Northwestern. With your NetID and password, you can access your online grade report, email, web resources, etc.

The password for your NetID is also the password for your NU email account. Every 120 days your NetID password will expire. Password expiration is imposed by the University for security reasons. You will receive email messages prior to the expiration date of the password warning you of the need to change your password.

Obtaining a Temporary NetID Password
If your password expires, you will need to obtain a temporary password. If this happens, please contact Allyson Grey of the Part-Time MBA Program office at (312) 503-6635 or a-grey@kellogg.northwestern.edu.

You can also request a temporary password by calling:

  • Kellogg Information Systems' Technical Support Center at (847) 467-2100. (Hours)
  • Northwestern IT's Support Center at (847) 491-HELP (4357). (Hours)

Please note that you must have a "Question & Answer" (Q&A) recorded that we can use to verify your identity. If you have not set up a Q&A, neither KIS nor Northwestern IT will be able to reset your password over the phone. If you need a temporary password, but do not have a Q&A, please see Northwestern IT's Options for Resetting your NetID Password.

Your email account
It’s important to maintain your email account because this is the account that professors will use to send class-related announcements.

The first step in using email is to have a NetID and password. You should have received this information during new student orientation.

Wieboldt Hall has computers and printers available for Part-Time MBA Program students on the first floor and in the Schaffner Library. You can use the Kellogg Exchange Messaging and Calendaring System to check your email or configure Outlook to check your email.

Kellogg Exchange vs. NU Email
All part-time students are now on the Kellogg Exchange Messaging and Calendaring System. The Kellogg Exchange Messaging and Calendaring Systems provides a single interface for managing your mail, calendar, tasks, and contacts. For additional information regarding the transition to Exchange, please click here.

If you have a Kellogg Exchange Account, you can access your email through the Kellogg Webmail Interface (OWA) or through Outlook (you must first configure Outlook for Exchange- see configuring Outlook links below).

To access Kellogg Outlook Web Access (OWA), click here.

If you have not completed a course since Summer 2007, and you you plan to re-enroll in the Fall 2008 quarter, you will need to have an Exchange account created. Please contact Allyson Grey for more information.

There are a few exceptions, which are noted below. If you fall into the following categories, your account still resides on the NU mail server and you will need to access your email via NU Webmail.

  • June and August 2008 Graduates
  • Students who have not completed a course in the past year (since Summer 2007)

To access NU Webmail, click here.

Special note for NU employees: If you are a part-time student and a Northwestern University employee, you do not have an Exchange email account. All mail sent to your Kellogg email account will be delivered to the email account that you use for work purposes. However, the calendaring functions in Kellogg Exchange are available for use.

Forward your email or set your vacation message
If you don’t want to check two email accounts, you can forward your email to your work or home email address. You can also set a vacation message when you will be away from your email for a long period of time.
