Campus Services

Libraries
The Schaffner Library, located on the second floor of Wieboldt Hall, was established as a special library in economics and business in memory of Joseph Schaffner, a Chicago businessman, Northwestern University trustee and strong supporter of continuing education.

The library contains approximately 110,000 volumes and pamphlets. More than 1,000 periodicals and serial publications are currently received. The library acquires most materials needed for part-time courses and, although it is not considered a research library, it facilitates research by providing available bibliographic aids.

A student identification card is issued to each student shortly after registration. This card entitles the student to library privileges at the Schaffner Library and at the University Library on the Evanston campus.

Computing
All students enrolled in the Part-Time MBA Program are required to have access to a personal computer with complete Internet access. Part-Time students do not take part in Kellogg’s laptop program since most students have computer access through home or work. However, part-time students are eligible for educational discounts on computer hardware and software. Students are expected to register for courses and download coursework online. Installation software is provided, which offers students free Internet access and e-mail. It is also recommended that students have the latest Microsoft Office software.

A computer lab, exclusively for the use of Kellogg students, is located in Schaffner Library in Wieboldt Hall. In addition, network data jacks and power outlets are available in student breakout/meeting rooms, study carrels in our reading room and some classrooms.

To help students make effective use of the necessary computing applications, the part-time program has a technology workshop that is required of all new students. Beyond this introductory class, there are free workshops offered throughout the year. These sessions focus on the applications used at the Kellogg School.

Abbott Hall Bookstore
Students purchase their books, case packets, software and other school supplies at the Abbott Hall Bookstore, located at 710 N. Lake Shore Drive (at the corner of Superior Street and inner Lake Shore Drive). The offices for parking and the student I.D. card also are located in Abbott Hall.
