A graduate of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a native of Chile, Alfonso’s professional path took him from business consulting to managing mergers and acquisitions for leading Chilean ventures to his current role as CEO of Empresas AquaChile S.A.


Empresas AcquaChile S.A. is formed by a group of companies in which put it in a leading position of the world salmon production and in a strategic position in the farming and sale of tilapia. Around 6,000 people work in the group, with facilities in four regions of Chile, Costa Rica and the United States.


Mr. Marquez earned a BS degree in business administration in Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile in 1991 and an MBA degree in finance, marketing, decision science and management from Northwestern University in 1996.

Carolina is the Founder and Chairman of Ze Farms, an innovative and young Company that has revolutionized the Snack Market in Chile, and has recently began expanding internationally.


Tika Natural Chips are totally handmade, produce from selected exotic vegetables.  

The Company has a commitment to offer unique and natural Chips that represent different cultures and regions of her country.  In addition, Tika helps to preserve varieties that are part of Chile’s biological heritage, and allows the promotion of the work of small farmers who rescued these hidden treasures of the Patagonia and the austral lands of Chile.


Carolina created Tika and founded her Company in 2009.  Before Tika, she has been involved in a broad variety of non profit organization, including an active role on the creation of "2000 mediaguas para el 2000", that later became "Un techo para Chile", a Chilean NGO that focuses on poverty by moving people that live in extremely poor conditions to their own basic house.  Later she became a part time University professor and now she divides her time mothering her 3 kids and managing the explosive growth of her business.


She has a major in Agriculture Economics from Universidad Católica de Chile, and several specialization courses from Universidad de Chile and Harvard Extension School in Boston, Massachusetts.

Cate Ambrose

Cate Ambrose joined the Latin American Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (LAVCA) as Executive Director in 2007. LAVCA is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to supporting the growth of private equity and venture capital in Latin America and the Caribbean.  Its membership is comprised of over 130 firms, from leading global investment firms active in the region to local fund managers from Mexico to Argentina, that control assets in excess of US$50 billion directed at capitalizing and growing Latin American businesses.


Ms. Ambrose speaks and writes regularly on a range of topics related to public policy and private investment in Latin America and is a regular commentator on CNN En Español. Ms. Ambrose is also a special advisor to the board of AMEXCAP, the Mexican Private Equity and Venture Capital Associatio.


Prior to LAVCA, Ms. Ambrose was Chief of Advocacy for the Commission on Legal Empowerment of the Poor, a UN initiative co-chaired by Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto and former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.  She also served as Executive Director of Programs at The Economist, where she founded the first industry gathering on private equity investment in Latin America and chaired annual roundtables with the Presidents of Mexico and Colombia. 

Ms. Ambrose holds an MPA in International Economic Policy from Columbia University, and a BA in Latin American studies from St Lawrence University and the University of Madrid.

Daniel Gamba

Daniel Gamba

He is head of Americas iShares Institutional Business and head of Latin America & Iberia business. He is a member of the Global Operating Committee, the Americas Executive Committee, and the Government Relations Steering Committee.


Mr. Gamba's service with the firm dates back to 2000, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Latin America & Caribbean business. In this role, he increased assets by over $24 billion in four years and expanded BGI's presence in Mexico City, Santiago, and Sao Paulo. Mr. Gamba began his career with BGI as a Director of Global Strategy and was responsible for strategic planning and for merging BGI Japan trust and advisory businesses. Previously, he was a senior product manager at MarketFirst Software and a senior consultant at A.T. Kearney. Mr. Gamba worked in Latin America in marketing and product management roles in 1990-1995.


Mr. Gamba serves as a member of the Executive Advisory Board of the Executive Advisory Committee for the CFA Institute, the committee charged with overseeing all aspects of the development of the CFA Program candidate curriculum. Mr. Gamba earned a BS degree in industrial engineering as first place in his class from Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru in 1989 and an MBA degree in finance and economics from Northwestern University in 1997. He is fluent in Spanish.

Fernando Cestari de Rizzo

Fernando Cestari de Rizzo

Mr. Rizzo's services with the firm date back to 1995, when he started as a product development engineer and a liaison at the Cummins Tech Center in the US participating in the development of the Cummins diesel engine applied in the Dodge Ram, Freightliner and Paccar trucks. Later on, he acted as a sales manager in the US. After getting his MBA degree, he was responsible for strategic planning before taking full responsibility over total sales.

 

Mr. Rizzo also actively participated in the successful financial restructuring of the company in 2003, in the turnaround process initiated in 2004 and had a significant role in the development of Tupy’s strategic vision and business organization restructuring, renewing completely the executive team and holding leadership in the definition and implementation of the marketing plan. More recently, he accumulated responsibility in supply chain and was responsible for the business analysis in a recent large acquisition in Mexico.

He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from FAAP, in Sao Paulo (1993) and a MBA in Finance and Marketing from Indiana University (Kelley School of Business, class of 2000). In this period he took a semester at Bocconi University in Milan,Italy.

 

Juan Pablo Visoso Lomelin

Managing Director, joined Nexxus Capital in 2008. He has more than 10 years of experience in corporate law, primarily in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and financial instruments. Acting as general counsel for Nexxus Capital, has been actively involved in investment and divestment of a number of portfolio companies and in fundraising.

 

Juan Pablo participates in the analysis of investment prospectuses and management of the companies in the portfolio. Currently, he is member of the investment committee of Fund III, Fund IV and Fund V, and sits on the board of directors of Nexxus Capital and several portfolio companies. Prior to joining Nexxus Capital, was senior associate in the Mexico office of White & Case. He has a degree in law from the Escuela Libre de derecho and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin (McCombs School of Business).

Julio Vasconcellos

With a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing from Wharton and an MBA from Stanford University, Vasconcellos lived for 10 years in the U.S. before returning to Brazil in early 2010 to launch Peixe Urbano, the country's first and largest daily deal site. Before that, he participated in the development of different start-ups and Internet companies in Silicon Valley, having worked as Director of Business Development for Experience Project, the largest anonymous online community through which users can share life experiences, and later as the first Country Growth Manager for Facebook in Brazil.

 

He started his career at the consulting company Monitor, where he became the firm's youngest manager, at age 22. Truly passionate about social media, marketing and entreperneurship, Vasconcellos has administered courses at Stanford University, as well as collaborated with a number of blogs, podcasts and publications on these subjects.

Pedro has been a Partner at Tarpon since June 2003 where he is responsible for the Investments Team and part of the Investment Committee and Board of Directors. He is a Board Member of BrasilAgro, Direcional Engenharia, Omega, Cremer and Arezzo. He was the Chief Financial Officer of BrasilAgro from its inception until February 2007. Prior to joining Tarpon, Pedro was a Managing Director of Banco Pátria, where he was responsible for monitoring companies of a US$250 million private equity portfolio, and has also worked for Chase Manhattan Bank and Banco Patrimônio/Salomon Brothers.

 

Pedro majored in Business Administration at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (São Paulo) and earned his MBA from the University of Chicago.

 

Prof. William Sutter

Professor William P. Sutter, Jr. is a Senior Lecturer of Finance and a member of Kellogg's Larry and Carol Levy Institute for Entrepreneurial Practice. He teaches The Human Element of Private Equity (ENTR 926), Entrepreneurship & New Venture Formation (ENTR 462), and NUvention Medical Innovation (HEMA 915).

Professor Sutter is also the Managing Partner of Hopewell Ventures, a $106 million venture capital fund with an investment focus on high-growth companies located in the Midwest. Since commencing operation in 2004, Hopewell has completed fifteen investments ranging from medical device manufacturers to alternative media companies.

 

Before becoming a founder of Hopewell, Professor Sutter was a Senior Managing Director of Mesirow Financial's Private Equity division. During his 17-year tenure, capital under management grew to $300 million, and his successful track record comprised investments in 29 portfolio companies, including four that completed an IPO. He started his career as an investment banker with the Corporate Finance department of Smith Barney.

 

Professor Sutter graduated from Yale University with a B.A. degree in Economics and recieved his M.B.A. from Stanford University. His interests include scuba diving, military history, and blues guitar.

Enterprises, LLC - a Chicago-based on-line research and digital marketing consultancy firm. Prior to founding Nia Enterprises, Ms. Mayberry McKissack enjoyed a successful 23-year corporate career in technology, which included serving as the Worldwide Senior Vice President and General Manager, Open Port Technology. She was also Vice President for the Americas for 3Com (formerly U.S. Robotics). In 2005, Ms. Mayberry McKissack was named an Associate Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Kellogg School of Business, Northwestern University.

 

Mayberry McKissack is well recognized as an entrepreneur and has been featured in articles of several publications including:BusinessWeek.com, Fortune.com, Crain’s, Ebony, Black Enterprises, Today’s Chicago Women,Chicago Tribune and theChicago Sun-Times.

 

Ms. Mayberry McKissack, a native of Seattle, Washington, received her B.S. from Seattle University and completed the four-year program in two-and-one-half years. She also received her MBA from Northwestern’s J.L. Kellogg School of Management. Ms. Mayberry McKissack serves on the Board of Directors of The PrivateBanCorp (NASDAQ: PVTB), and as a Director of the Deluxe Corporation (NYSE: DLX). She is also a Board member for several Civic organizations including the University of Chicago Medical Center and the Chicago Library Foundation. Ms. Mayberry McKissack has received several acknowledgements for her leadership endeavors and is the recipient of the 2009 Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Women of Achievement award. In 2012, she was recognized as one of the “17 Black Internet Pioneers” by the ROOT.com, a division of the Washington Post.

Previously, he participated as Co-Founder and CEO of nCubo Holdings, a Mexican Venture Capital Fund and Technology Development Company, where nowadays he still serves as Board Member.


During the 90's, he developed opportunities in the Infrastructure/Construction Area, mainly involved in the Railroad Industry and Fiber Optic Cable Laying in Mexico and South America, Chile and Argentina in particular.


Sergio Rosengaus attended the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, where he graduated in BS in Industrial Engineering. He obtained a Master Degree in Finance and later studies in Harvard and Stanford Universities.

Sergio Ribeiro da Costa Werlang

Sergio Ribeiro da Costa Werlang

Sergio Werlang is an Executive Vice President at Itau Unibanco, responsible for the bank’s risk and financial controls.  He joined Itau as a senior managing director in 2002. Since 1986 Sérgio is a professor of the Graduate School of  Economics at Getulio Vargas Foundation.

 

Prior to joining Itau, he was a Deputy Governor for Economic Policy at the Central Bank of Brazil from February 1999 to September 2000. In this capacity, he was in charge to implement the inflation targeting framework in Brazil. He has a number of publications in international economics journals.  Sergio holds a PhD in Economics from Princeton University. 

 

Vasco Simoes

He is a Partner at Accenture based in Sao Paulo - Brazil. Vasco has extensive experience in the CGS and Retail industries and has been working with clients throughout Latin America, North America, Asia Pacific and West & East Europe. He is currently responsible for the “Brazilian Multinationals” thought leadership initiative within Accenture.


His functional expertise includes organization strategy and operations efficiency, including M&A (merger integration). He is a chemical Engineer from Escola de Engenharia Maua and has an MBA degree from the IESE – Barcelona  - Spain.
