EMP-54

The Wisconsin party was a 'high pass' all around --- great weather, great fun, great food, great drinks and great friends. EMP-54s who attended included Joe Dalum, Charlie Kinas, Lora Rosenbaum, Maureen Bryan, Rana Altenburg, Pete Dankwerth, George Baus, Steve Conley, Dirk Wouters, Don Aven, Keith Jossell, Pat Schroder, Patrick Davenport, Arun Subramony, Rebecca Liebert, Rafael Aquique, Ray Quatrochi, many spouses, and, of course, Bernie Birt. Many thanks to all who traveled. I hope many more continue to participate in this annual event.

Kevin Burke recently left General Mills to join Pulte Homes. In his new position as "emerging leader," he is part of Pulte's general management development program. He will be relocating to Dallas in January, where he will join fellow teammate Mark Thomas, who is Pulte's Texas-area president.

Joe Dalum was appointed treasurer in his role as a member of the board of directors for Notre Dame Middle School in Milwaukee. NDMS is an all-girls middle school (grades 5 to 8), serving a predominately Hispanic immigrant community. Its mission is to prepare its students to go on to college preparatory high schools and then college.

Cole Hedden recently left Honeywell to become vice president of product marketing and business development for L-3 Communications in Phoenix.

Ray Quatrochi recently treated his wife to a long, romantic getaway to Hawaii for no special reason --- just because he loves her. What a great role model for EMP-54 husbands!

Ron Reynolds joined the Xansa UK Ltd. operations group in June as the change director, finance and accounting shared services center." Ron was previously CFO of the company's U.S. portfolio of businesses. He and his family are living in London.

Tim Schmidt is the proud father of Michael William (baby No. 3), who was born May 26, weighing in at 10 pounds, 11 ounces, and 22 inches.

Jeff Sommers, in his new position as president of Nextra Shortening and Oil in Research Triangle Park, N.C., was pleased to accept the Master Chefs Seal of Excellence Award for the company's flagship product, Nextra oil, at the National Restaurant Show in Chicago in May. The company producesnutritionally advanced shortening and oils that contain no cholesterol, trans fats or adelhydes.
