EMP-22

Hello again, EMP-22. Yes, there is life out there among our fellow classmates. It was great and surprising to see what others have accomplished during the various stages of their lives. George Simmons writes in from Columbia, Md., that he retired from Lucent Technologies after 28 years. He and his wife, Grayce, took a year off and traveled, played golf and worked around the house. That was enough to drive George out of retirement. He is now president and CEO of Cibernet, a company that does data clearing and financial settlement for voice-roaming services. Cibernet operates in more than 80 countries and handles billings of more than $7 billion a year. Way to go, George! Reach George at: 11552 Manorstone Lane, Columbia, MD 21044, or by phone at 410.730.0373. Email address is graycelou@aol.com.

And then I received this from Sue Harnett, who attended every accounting tutorial with me. The material must have stuck --- with her. She writes: "As for me, Bill and the kids, the Harnetts are now empty nesters as of last September. Janie started at NYU. Susie will be a senior at Middlebury. Bill and I have been living in Brussels for the last three years. It is a lovely city. I was the deputy CEO and retail bank director for the EMEA region covering 25 countries. Needless to say, we were able to see a great deal of the world. We are looking for a new home in Dsseldorf. In May I was named CEO of Citibank Germany. Germany is Citi's third-largest franchise. It is an exceptional opportunity, despite the challenges of the German economy. We bought a place in Marbella last year. It is the first time we have owned anything since we left Naperville in 1998. Nomadic expats need some roots after a while." Reach Sue at susan.s1.harnett@citigroup.com.

Lastly, I wanted to let everyone know that I made a big change in my life and moved from Seattle to Dallas with my family. I have accepted a great opportunity back in the corporate world as VP of concept development for Maggiano's Little Italy, a division of Brinker International, a $3.5-billion restaurant conglomerate. I am responsible for developing Maggiano's as one of its core brands. We have 30 locations and will be expanding to a number of cities across the country. Let me know where you are so I can invite you to the openings. How can you turn down free food and wine? You can reach me at home at john.wyatt@brinker.com or work at earp610@comcast.net. I look forward to hearing from more of you. Everyone has a great update to share.
