EMP-36

EMP-36's "Study Group B" enjoyed a reunion in St. Louis in July.

We trust everyone had a good summer and are gearing up for the fall and winter seasons. As many of you know, in 2002 we will be celebrating our fifth reunion. We are hoping to have a great turnout on campus next May 3-5, 2002. We will send you a survey early next year to find out what kind of activity EMP-36 wants for reunion weekend. Please send an e-mail note to Karen with all your updated contact information (home phone, address, e-mail, and business contact info) to ensure you receive this survey.

We are hoping to put together a class book with everyone’s current information, which we will hand out on reunion weekend.

Steve Sesterhenn, MD has joined Disease Management Systems (DMS) as their chief medical officer. DMS works with congestive heart failure, diabetes, and high-risk pregnancy patients. Steve’s wife, Barbara (a Kellogg grad from the evening program) has recently opened the second Chicago-area franchise of Mr. Handyman. Feel free to contact her for any of those small home projects. Good luck to them both on these new endeavors.

Ralph Evans just celebrated his first anniversary with Fox River Paper as the vice president of human resources. He is enjoying his position there and just wrapped up a series of trips to the West Coast.

Dave Disney and his wife Beth just returned to Orlando after a two-and-a-half-year assignment with United Medical Corporation in Puerto Rico. Dave and Beth are awaiting the birth of their second child (a boy) who is due in November. He will join their 22-month-old daughter Nathalie Erin.

Steve Flinn, founder and CEO of Many Worlds, continues to grow his company. Many Worlds has moved into the world of print media by launching signal, a compact monthly magazine that distills and delivers the key issues that need to be on senior executives’ agendas. Signal is designed to eliminate the “noise” that infects the bloated management magazine genre.

Study Group B had a nice reunion this past July in St. Louis. On hand were Mary Lynn Bushnell, Bob Aspell, Doug Guendel, Jim Schmitt, and Charlie Benz (Doug Manoogian was unable to attend due to a 24/7 project with Ford. Bob’s medical practice continues to grow. Mary Lynn continues to enjoy her part-time position with Levolor Window Furnishings. Despite her company’s relocation to High Point, NC Mary Lynn will now work out of the Rockford, Ill., office. Congratulations to Jim and his wife on the birth of their third child this spring: Hayden Schmitt. Hayden joins Harrison and Hannah in the Schmitt household.

Cindy Seemann and her husband Bill are enjoying parenthood while their son Billy proudly wears his purple Kellogg bib. Cindy recently restructured the Signmark Division Sales team and will be back at Kellogg for a week this fall for a course.

My own company, World Travel by Design, Inc. continues its rapid growth. It’s nice to be in a travel industry niche that is growing rather than shrinking. In addition to custom vacation travel, we are branching out into corporate meeting planning. I’ve also had fun talking with soon-to-be EMP grads to assist with their celebratory graduation trips.

We look forward to hearing from you.
