Black Management Alumni Club
Black Management Alumni Club

2005 was an exciting year for the Black Management Alumni club. Here are some highlights:

The club Web site was launched with a campaign to encourage alumni to join the club or update their profiles. To date, we have over 220 alumni registered club members.

The 18th Annual BMA Conference was coordinated by current BMA students, and provided a perfect venue to host our annual Alumni Townhall Meeting.

Alumni participated in the selection process for the BMA Alumni Scholarship; seven applicants were nominated.

The Kellogg Black Alumni Club hosted a Worldwide Welcome Week networking event in celebration of new graduates entering into business communities around the world. The WWW event allowed new alums to network with alums already in the workforce. Jim Corboy, director of alumni relations, was our guest speaker.

Many club members supported Kellogg Admissions by participating in Kellogg Minority Information Sessions, which were held in various cities across the country.

During the 27th Annual National BMA Conference in San Diego, more than 25 alums gathered for an alumni networking reception. The reception included a presentation by an executive search firm.

During the BMA Career Networking Session, alumni discussed opportunities at their companies with current job-seeking students.

The club's co-chairs attended the Kellogg Alumni Club Leader Conference, where they learned and shared best practices with other club co-chairs, and received information on additional support provided by Alumni Relations.

The club supported Kellogg Preview, an outreach effort by BMA students for potential minority applicants to give them a glimpse into life as a Kellogg student, ranging from classes and working in teams to living in Evanston.

Students at Kellogg are gearing up for an exciting conference scheduled April 7-9, 2006. This year's theme is "Influencing the World:  Building Intellectual, Economic and Social Capital." More details about the conference can be found at kellogg.northwestern.edu/bmaconference/.

Just a reminder to keep in touch and stay informed, you need to POWER UP with the Kellogg Black alumni database at kelloggalumni.northwestern.edu/Affinity/bma/index.asp. Once you've navigated there, go to "Get Involved" to update your contact information and stay informed.
