EMP-45

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Evanston for our five-year reunion the weekend of April 29-May 1 and are planning for a very large group. To date, more than 90 percent of respondents to the invitation are affirmative. You should have received an information packet from Kellogg in the mail with information about the general events being planned and an email invitation (Evite) to track who is coming from EMP-45, as well as information about class-specific events. Please remember to click "post my reply" in Evite after you have indicated if you can make it. It'll save us both a lot of time in follow-up calls.

If you talk to any of the following individuals, please let them know I am trying to reach them. They are "lost sheep" who have not yet updated their Kellogg email forwarding address at kelloggalumni.northwestern.edu: Michel Couture, Kimmo Sjoroos and Robin Sellar.

  Kelly Chapman EMP-45
Kelly Chapman EMP-45 belts out a song at a Cavaliers game.

Kelly Chapman has done it — she's launched her singing career and is charging ahead! Kelly wowed a sell-out crowd on Feb. 5 when she sang "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Cleveland Cavaliers versus Orlando Magic game at Gund Arena. The crowd of more than 20,000 cheered as Kelly sang her soul-stirring rendition of our national anthem. It was "Gospel Night" at the Cavs game and Kelly, along with dancers Ryan and Bryan Marshall, Rachel Johnson and Trina Roddy, ministered to the many fans and supporters who stayed after the game for a concert featuring Kelly and Marvin Winans Jr. Besides being able to buy her songs or albums on Apple's iTunes and at various other places, you can check her out at kellychapman.net.

Dan Rice has lots of news. He accepted a position at US Trust as the senior business development officer and vice president and has also been called up for duty in Iraq. Please keep him, and all of our soldiers, and the people of Iraq, in your thoughts and prayers. We wish them a safe return. He'll be living in Tikrit, Iraq, for roughly 15 months, working as the minister of commerce for the Army's 42nd Infantry Division, National Guard. They'll be working with locals to help rebuild the economy in roughly one-third of Iraq, combining his military and civilian background. He can be reached at DRice2000@Kellogg.Northwestern.edu during his stay there. He keeps an online journal at iraqcommerce.blogspot.com.

Helen Teplitskaia, president of the American-Russian Chamber of Commerce and a member of the EMP-45 class, addressed "Strategies for Trade and Investment in Russia" at a March 21-22 conference in San Francisco.

Dave Evans has become a partner with The Partnering Group, a leading consultancy and training firm, to help spearhead the group's expansion into various B2B industries. He now works with fellow EMP-45 classmate Richard Spoon (managing partner) on strategic business leadership, product/service development, manufacturing process improvement, and organizational alignment and design engagements for a wide range of clients. Reach Dave at 513.604.0847.

Best wishes to all and we'll see you soon!
