On Oct. 12, David Karger Kohler '92, the fourth generation president of Kohler Inc. in Wisconsin, hosted more than 25 members of the student Family Enterprise Club (FEC) at his business. He arranged for them to have a private Q& A breakfast session with him about Kohler and family business, a tour of Kohler's operating facility, and museum/showroom, in addition to a lunch with his sister, Laura Kohler, who works at Kohler HR. The students were able to spend the night at Kohler's 5-star America Club Hotel—listed in the book 1000 Places to See Before you Die. Students from business families all over the world and their JVs attended and found it to be a terrific event.

The Center for Family Enterprises is hosting The Family Enterprise Leadership Lecture and Award on May 9 at the James L. Allen Center. The center will honor James B. Ethier '66, chairman and CEO of the Bush Brothers & Co. as the recipient of the 2012 Family Enterprise Leadership Award. The Center created this award to recognize individual family business leaders who exemplify the values, vision, familial and organizational effectiveness, and the stewardship capabilities that Kellogg and its Center for Family Enterprises tries to promote through Kellogg's educational initiatives globally. The goal of the recognition is to inspire a new generation of leaders in their family businesses and beyond. Contact Carol Zsolnay '86 at c-zsolnay@kellogg.northwestern.edu for more information.
