Jim Corboy is president of The Castleton Marketing Group in Washington D.C., Chicago and Castleton, Va. In the second year of this new endeavor, the firm's main focus is The Castleton Festival, a summer opera and classical music festival founded 15 years ago by world-renowned conductor Maestro Lorin Maazel. Maazel is the former head of the New York Philharmonic who now heads the Munich Philharmonic and continues to constantly tour the globe. A veteran of media and marketing, Corboy acknowledges that Castleton has been a whole new world:

"When I think back on how this all got so innocently started, it might not have seemed as sensible as it has worked out: Work with my long-ago fiancée (legendary opera soprano Nancy Gustafson is the Castleton Festival's general manager) and also for the world's most demanding, skilled and respected musical conductor of the last 100 years....what was I thinking....?! But, it's been the most inspiring, educational and fulfilling assignment I've ever poured myself into and working with Nancy and Maestro and Mrs. Maazel has been a joy and labor of love. The magic of world-class opera and symphony concerts -- set in the rolling foothills of Northern Virginia's Piedmont region…people come from all over the world."

After living on the Maazel Family's Castleton Farms estate that hosts the main summer festival and year-round monthly concerts for more than a year, Corboy will now split his time in the coming year between Rappahannock County in Northern Virginia, where the festival is based, and the Castleton Marketing Group offices in Washington D.C. and Chicago, where the firm will continue to add marketing, media, sponsorship and social media projects and clientele from the entertainment and media worlds. "We see lots of Kellogg and NU alums from D.C., Maryland and Virginia at the festival, but not as many as we want or as often as they should come! We feature many singers and musicians from Northwestern's student and alumni ranks. We'll be sending the new 2012 Castleton Festival schedule out soon to anyone who's interested -- and we'll be in touch via email and social media with Kellogg and NU alums and students to join us in person and via streaming content again this summer."
