On April 30, Ken Kring and his colleague Susan Earley led a workshop on business data strategy mapping at the Enterprise Data World conference in Atlanta. Many of the principles presented in the workshop are from Ken's book, Business Strategy Mapping - The Power of Knowing How It All Fits Together. The workshop showed the flow of business from potential to profitability and the points in between, and how data can both support and drive that flow.

Lisa Gelsomino provides a run-down of her career since graduation: "I joined Avalon Risk Management in 1998 right after getting Kellogg. I was living and working in New York at the time, having opened our New York office. I came back to Chicago in July 2001; in 2008 I was promoted to president of Avalon, then in October 2009, I helped facilitate a management buyout of Avalon from our Canadian parent. We were excited to be awarded in 2011 as one of the Best Places to Work by Business Insurance, as well as one of the Best Places to Work in Illinois, where our corporate headquarters is now based. You can find press releases on both awards on our website at avalonrisk.com." Congratulations, Lisa!

As for me, besides my continued work with The Boston Consulting Group, Rebecca '02 and I are focused on raising our two little boys, Jackie (6) and Marcus (4). In February, Jackie and I were fortunate enough to attend the groundbreaking for the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. It was a special day for both of us, and we look forward to the museum's opening in 2015.
