Hello everyone, figure I'd have extra time this winter given I'm banking time I'd normally be shoveling my driveway in Chicago (weird warm winter), but nonetheless, out of time at again. I'll use some Google tools, LinkedIn and I promise I will create an easy way to get flooded with great inputs on our incredibly awesome class of '88, have the notes automatically be generated with all the private comments that are not noteworthy be edited out. I'll invent it with my spare time. Ha.

I connected with some folks on LinkedIn. David Hirschler, wife Maura and son Matthew (11) live in Westport, Conn., these days. He's been working in qualitative research as moderator/strategic consultant, getting him back to his roots -- insightful mining of attitudes and behaviors. So he's working with companies helping them build their brands with his skills.

Brent Koehler and family visited Mau in 2011, and he and son Michael took a five-day backpacking trek through Yellowstone. Michael is at St. Olaf College in Minnesota.

Mark Proudfoot and Hanne Olsen Proudfoot are in Denmark (at least they were in December). They are settling in Copenhagen and are very happy, noting that it's a great community for the kids. Mark's business brings him back and forth to Chicago.

Tom MacDonald and Diane Collins MacDonald are well in Portland. Tom continues to manage Intel's server chipset business. He curls with a local club weekly and competed in a bonspiel in October. Diane retired as grade school parent teacher club president, but volunteers a lot regardless. She's spending time horseback riding and is on a tennis team. As with Intel standard policy, Tom's got a sabbatical coming this year, so oh the decisions of where to go in the world to contemplate the future of chipsets? Sarah is at U of NC, pursuing a career in dance. Todd Jr. in high school, competing in cross country and track, notably earning fourth in districts and 21st in state! And he loves to cook, which is good if you're an athlete! Carissa is in eighth grade and enjoys horse riding and snowboarding. Kevin is in 5th grade and loves soccer and swimming. I tried snowboarding this March and Tom is threatening to give this a try, too.

Mike Wapner continues to pursue job opportunities in green (energy, ecology) initiatives. Published some incredible reports for startups, refining those Kellogg skills, unfortunately, startups are just that, startups. So as of this year, Mike was looking for the next gig, but still Chief of Indian Princess tribe for daughter Anna. Julia (12) is in sixth grade and a percussionist. Anna (9) is a gymnast. The family is nailing their request to visit all 50 states, some trips planned this summer. Delaware is small but elusive to them!

Pat Ciriacks became a grandpa as of July. Son Kevin had a son. Pat is enjoying his role as people and culture leader at Creation Technologies 27K employees, along with running a couple of the businesses. Pat is a frequent flyer extraordinaire, fitting in some fishing as well. Pat caught a 30" walleye which is mounted on the wall now. Kevin is a first-year med student, in addition to doing the daddy/student/husband shuffle. Good stuff. Jenny is off to physical therapy program at Marquette and plays club volleyball.

Amy Wahlert Principi is watching kids grow up. Molly is a junior at Illinois Wesleyan and is going to be a teacher. Nick is a senior in high school, looking at colleges.

Dennis Sheehan laments that he's turned 50. Fortunately, there is plenty to brighten up this old guy's day. Claire (22) graduated with degree in chemistry and is looking at options to get an advanced degree in this area. Katherine (20) is a junior and pursuing English degree, enjoying life in Chicago. Erin (19) is a sophomore in Seattle in mechanical engineering and converted from swimming to an ace goalie in water polo.

David Wright, a Merrill Lynch Private Wealth Advisor, was recognized on the Barron's "America's Top 1,000 Advisors: State-by-State" list which published in the February 20 edition of Barron's magazine. David's recognition on this annual list is an industry honor and recognition of his accomplishments.

David Kieselstein was named CEO of Penton Media Inc. in January. David was previously CEO of TNS North America.

Brad Schneider was victorious in a Democratic congressional primary in Illinois. He captured 47 percent of the vote in a congressional district in Chicago's northern suburbs, and is now vying to take on first-term Republican incumbent Rep. Robert Dold '00 in the general election in November.

We are sad to announce the passing of our classmate Ed Thompson. Many of you may remember Ed who led the first Kellogg Black Management Association Conference that is still ongoing today. He will be deeply missed.

Hope your year is going well, and many of you are having wonderful experiences watching kids become adults. Happy for you all.
