Instructions for Kellogg Classroom A/V & Computer Equipment
 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING A/V SYSTEM RACK

1) Turn the  “Rack Power” switch to the on position.
2) Push the red “Display Power”switch located on the gray Extron System 8 switcher down for 2 seconds and release.  The switch will flash once and the ceiling video projector will turn on. The switch will indicate if the projector has turned on with a steady red light.  Allow 1 minute for the projector to warm up before selecting a source.
3) Select the desired source to be displayed by pushing one of the white switches on the Extron System 8 switcher and hold down for 1 second. The selected switch will light up. Adjust “Master Volume” for proper audio level.
4) To turn system off push the red “Display Power” switch and hold down until the red light flashes once, then release. The projector will go into cool down mode and will turn off in 1 minute. Turn the “Rack Power” switch to the off position.

Please check to make sure that the video projector has been turned off before you leave the classroom.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONNECTING A LAPTOP

1) Locate the cable bin at the front of the classroom on the floor. Connect the 15 pin cable to the VGA connector at the rear of the laptop. For laptop sound, connect the audio plug to the headphone jack. For network access, connect the Cat-5 data plug to the laptop ethernet card/jack.
2) Turn on the laptop. Locate the Extron RGB-108 interface box located just below the On/Off panel in the A/V equipment rack. This device should turn on automatically. The laptop image should also appear on the rack monitor and the projector screen.
3) Adjust centering controls and turn the “Level” control to the two o’clock position for best screen image.

If the laptop image is not present on the rack monitor or projector screen please check the following items:
- Make sure the Extron RGB 108 is set to Input #1 on the input switch located on the right side of the front panel.
- If the Extron RGB 108 appears to be off make sure the laptop VGA output has been turned on. To turn on the laptop VGA output hold down the “FN” key and press the function key that indicate LCD/VGA or has the symbol of a monitor. This function has three different settings and each time you press it requires a few seconds to forward to the next setting.
- If everything appears to be on, check to make sure the image is not shifted off the screen to the right or left by using the horizontal control, < >.
