Overview

Meeting Maker is Kellogg's electronic calendar solution. It handles student study group room reservations, and maintains student, faculty and staff schedules.

Installing Meeting Maker

Meeting Maker is pre-installed on all Kellogg Laptop Program (KLP) computers. On KLP laptops, you can find Meeting Maker in the Start menu.

If you have a non-KLP laptop, you will need to install Meeting Maker. You can download the installer here. Save the installer to your Desktop, then close all open applications and double-click the meetingmakerinst.exe file.

If you have a PalmOS handheld and would like to sync your Palm with Meeting Maker, check both boxes when prompted.

Important: If you do install the Palm conduits, be sure to de-select the Address Book Conduit and Todo List Conduit.

The only conduit that should be selected is the Date Book Conduit.

On the next screen, click Next to accept the default installation folder.

When prompted to make Meeting Maker your default calendar application, click "No".

Once the installer is finished, you can delete the installer file from the desktop.

Configuring Meeting Maker

Once you've installed Meeting Maker, open Meeting Maker and configure it for the Kellogg/Northwestern Meeting Maker server.

To start, click the Select button to the right of Server.

Click Configure.

Replace 0.0.0.0 with geneva.itcs.northwestern.edu and click OK.

You should now see a list of Meeting Maker servers.

Select Kellogg_Meeting_Maker and change the Protocol from TCP to SSL. When you've made these selections (illustrated at right), click Select.

Click the Select button to the right of Time Zone. Select your time zone (Evanston is in USA Central) and click OK.

Now, just enter your NetID in the Name field and your password, and click Sign In to login to Meeting Maker.

Meeting Maker FAQ's

  • I cannot connect to Meeting Maker from home or off campus.
  • Since Meeting Maker was upgraded to 8.5.3, connecting to NU VPN is now required before you can log in to Meeting Maker. NU VPN documentation can be found here.

  • Meeting Maker does not recognize my NetID and password, but it works for other services including email and Kellogg resources.
  • There is a known problem with Meeting Maker that may be causing your inability to log in. KIS recommends that you change your NetID password. Changing your NetID password will “re-sync” your password with the Meeting Maker database and allow you to log in and complete the update. If you are still unable to log in, please email KIS.

  • The Group View blinks frequently, making it difficult to use.
  • This is an issue that is being addressed by NUIT and Meeting Maker. We apologize for any inconvenience, unfortunately there is no solution at this time.

  • My name is not correct or I am in the wrong group in the Meeting Maker directory.
  • Send an email to kis-help@kellogg.northwestern.edu with the details of the change you are requesting. You will receive a reply after the change has been made.

  • Can I reserve a Jacobs Center classroom in Meeting Maker?
  • No. You must make classroom reservations at the Student Affairs office in Andersen Hall. You may view the classroom schedules to determine if one is available during the time you are considering prior to visiting Student Affairs to make the reservation.

  • Can I reserve a study group room for the entire quarter?
  • No. The current KSA policy allows study group rooms to be reserved only two weeks in advance. Student Affairs reviews room reservations and will cancel room reservations that extend beyond two weeks. To schedule a meeting for the entire quarter and then schedule a study group room for only the first two weeks, schedule the meeting for the full ten weeks, then go to the first two occurrences of the meeting on your calendar and invite the location as a guest for the first two meetings. Remember to schedule another room for the remaining meetings on a biweekly basis.

  • I try to sync my Palm device from home but it doesn't work, why not?
  • You must be connected to the network in order to sync your Palm device to your Meeting Maker calendar.

  • I am a TMP student, but I cannot log in to Meeting Maker. How do I reserve study group space at the Jacobs Center?
  • Since TMP students do not have Meeting Maker accounts, they should contact Student Affairs to reserve a room.
