Receiving Funds

Loan applications, information and instructions are available on-line.

Please refer to this website for downloading the Master Promissory Note for your Federal Stafford Loan.

The preferred deadline date for returning the completed Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note is May 28, 2004 (One-Year students) and June 30, 2004 (Two-Year students).

Please also complete the required Stafford Entrance Counseling Session on-line by the dates listed above. There is also a link to this website here.

Please also return your signed and dated Financial Aid Award Notice with the completed Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note.

To borrow through Northwestern University for the Federal Stafford Loan write, “Northwestern University” in Box 8 and 824565 (for lender code) in Box 9 of the Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note.

If you would like to borrow the NU Loan amount offered to you and/or an optional NU Loan to replace your contribution or a portion of your contribution, you may review information and apply for this loan on-line at studentloans.northwestern.edu. The preferred deadline for completing the NU Loan is May 28, 2004 (One-Year students) and June 30, 2004 (Two-Year students).

Completion of these items will be required before anticipated aid will be applied to your billing account. This means that if we receive your materials by the date listed above, anticipated aid will appear on the billing statement you receive, and you will only be responsible for any remaining balance on your tuition bill.

We will accept applications after these dates, but cannot guarantee that funds will be available by the first day of classes.

Once your NU Loan is processed and if approved by the Northwestern University Loan Office, the promissory notes will be mailed to you. If you apply with a cosigner, the promissory notes will first be mailed to your cosigner. Please remit the signed documents to the loan office, located at Northwestern University Student Loan Office, 555 Clark Street, 3rd floor, Evanston, Il 60208. Please note that the promissory notes for your NU loan will not be mailed by the loan office until after July 15, 2004. Please sign and return promptly.

Also, please note that an application for Direct Deposit is available on-line. This is offered by the Office of Student Accounts (your billing office) and will allow the credit refunds that you may have as a result of financial aid be directly deposited into your personal bank account. This form should be downloaded, completed, and mailed directly to the Office of Student Accounts, 619 Clark St., Evanston, Il 60208 along with a voided check or deposit slip.

NOTE: If you do not have access to the web, please contact our office and we will mail you the loan applications.

  • sign and date the Financial Aid Award Notice and return to the Kellogg Financial Aid Office – retain one copy for your records
  • download the Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note, complete and return to the Kellogg Financial Aid Office:
