Northwestern has hosted many theory and applied theory conferences which provide students an opportunity to hear about a wide range of research topics. A list of recent conferences can be seen here.
In August of 2008, the Third World Congress of the Game Theory Society was held on campus along with the newly introduced annual Transatlantic Theory Workshop. The event featured speakers who are pioneers in the field of Game Theory and included panel discussions with Kellogg professor Ehud Kalai, former Kellogg professor and Nobel Prize winner Roger Myerson and Nobel Prize winner Robert Aumann. Coverage of this event can be found here.
The Center for the Study of Industrial Organization (CSIO) also holds annual conferences, one with Toulouse and one with Duke and the University of Texas, Austin, both of which have a strong theory component (information on both is available here).
